St Bernard Fall League Week 2

<p>September is here and with that brings plenty of fall league high school basketball. St Bernard in Playa Del Rey, CA has started up their annual fall league. The league takes a break this upcoming weekend, before starting up again on the weekend of October 5.</p> <p>Some of the teams that participated in Week 2 were St Bernard, Calabasas, El Segundo, Oak Park, West Torrance, Westminster, Compton, Cathedral, Venice, Bishop Montgomery, Crossroads, Gardena, and Cleveland. Here’s a look at some of the top standouts from Week 2 of St. Bernard’s fall league.</p> <p><strong>1. Isaiah Johnson – Bishop Montgomery 2020</strong></p> <p>Johnson has become one of the top big men in all of Southern California. He’s drawn plenty of college interest but has yet to choose a school. He is a tremendous athlete who runs the floor well and finishes well at the rim. He has good footwork in the paint and he crashes the glass well. He’s versatile in that he can handle the ball well for a big man and initiate the offense. Good defensive player in the paint.</p> <p><strong>2. Brendan Terry – Crossroads 2021</strong></p> <p>Another very athletic forward. Terry also has an intriguing skill set. He’s a power player, looking to finish at the rim with authority. He’s very active around the rim and he’s constantly battling on the inside for offensive rebounds and put-back opportunities. But he can also stretch the floor too. He can shoot from distance and he can put the ball on the floor. Good length for a defender. Should have a strong junior year.</p> <p><strong>3. Kobi Malone – Compton 2020</strong></p> <p>Malone helps solidify a pretty solid Compton roster. He’s a long, athletic wing with a good overall skillset. Offensively, he is solid for a wing player. Depending on the matchups, he could play shooting guard or small forward. Although he’s a bit slight, in the right matchup he could be a small forward. He can put the ball on the floor and attack off the dribble. He’s a good rebounder too. He contests well defensively on the perimeter.</p> <p><strong>4. Christian Bood – Bishop Montgomery 2020</strong></p> <p>Bood is a pretty talented forward who figures to have a prominent role in the Knights frontcourt with the departure of Bradley Ezewiro. With his skill set, he’s probably a small forward, but in smaller lineups he could play power forward at times. He has a nice looking hook shot in the paint and solid moves with his back to the basket. He runs the floor well in transition. He’s got a nice midrange shot too. Very active player on the court.</p> <p><strong>5. T.J. Muhammad – Crossroads 2020</strong></p> <p>Muhammad is one of the senior leaders for the Roadrunners this season and just an all-around solid player. He makes plays that contribute to winning basketball. He isn’t afraid to put his body on the line while diving for a loose ball, and he’ll take that end of quarter jumper. He can create his own offense on the perimeter and he has a good shot that extends to the three-point line. He can run the offense as a point guard. Good defender both on ball and on the help side.</p>
