The Prep Hoops Top 250 Expos are always an outstanding opportunity for me to see fresh faces and games and this year's event definitely set the standard. I have a very good feel for the talent in the state all around, but the 250 was eye opening as far as the amount of talent that has been overlooked or gone unnoticed for whatever reason. As promised, we will be updating the rankings in every class and each of the players listed below will find themselves in the rankings for the first time.

Prep Hoops Fresh Faces:

2021 6'2 G Mar'Jon Bennett of Roosevelt High School had a nice showing at this year's 250 expo. The first thing that stood out about Mar'Jon was the confidence that he carried on the court. He looked like he felt he belonged and his game backed that up. He has a solid handle and can make plays in the open floor. I like the way he competes and isn't afraid to mix things up. He should have a good year for Roosevelt this winter.

2021 6'5 SF Niklas Berry was one player I had previously seen on film before the event, but this was my first chance to see him in person. He possesses great length and looks like he might grow some more. He can shoot the ball well and is a legitimate catch and shoot threat. As he continues to add strength, it will help his game and prepare him for the next level. Niklas will be suiting up for Nathan Hale High School, led by Coach Dom Brooks. It is also worth mentioning that he has a 3.95 GPA.

2021 6'2 G Winston Cole was very impressive this weekend. Winston is a fluid athlete with a slick handle that we have come to expect from Rainier Beach players. He can break his man down off the bounce and make plays for others. He excels in the open floor where he can change direction with ease and get to the basket. He carries a 3.6 GPA.

2021 6'2 G Keshawn Douglas out of Kentridge HS is not a new face for me, but he will be in the updated 2021 rankings when the time comes. I like Keshawn's ability to break his man down and get into the paint to draw fouls. He has a good feel for the game and showed some signs of being that aggressive, strong guard that has made Kentridge good over the years.

2022 6'5 SF Malek Gamma (Ingraham HS) was one of the most intriguing prospects from this weekend. His length and ability to run the floor is very good for a sophomore in high school. He got deflections on defense and scored with ease in transition. Although he is still very much an unfinished product, Malek is someone that has a chance to be a top 10 player in the 2022 class with continued development on his all around game. *Feature image

2020 5'10 PG Pierre Joseph's (Interlake HS) game really grew on me as the event went along. He is a smaller guard, but he has a way of finding open teammates in tight spaces and really throws the ball on time, on target. He threw some of the best passes that I saw all weekend, which is fun to see at a showcase setup. He is physically strong and scraps on the defensive end. He is worthy of getting small college interest, as he also boasts a 3.75 GPA.
