Open Gym Tour: Moravian Prep, Part 1

Moravian Prep has built a nice factory tucked away in the depths of North Carolina's Appalachian Mountains in Hickory. They've got roughly 45 prospects that are hard at work in the gym on a daily basis. In this piece, I break down observations from their National Team, which is expected to do big things this season.

2020 forward Josh Hall: Hall was head and shoulders the best player in the gym for the whole workout. He's much more aggressive with the ball in his hands. He drove to the bucket and finished above the rim numerous times, showing his growth on the hardwood.

2020 combo guard Jamarhi Harvey: Harvey is a combo guard that's learning to be more of an all-around player. He can already score from anywhere on the floor and showcased his 3-point shooting ability throughout open gym. He's got mid-majors all over him already.

2020 center Javarzia Belton: Belton is an imposing force on the block and inhales every rebound that comes his way. He's got nice hands and finishes everything strong around the rim. His recruitment will really blow up this season.

2021 guard Terrence Johnson: Johnson is a long, wiry guard that flies around the court on both ends. He's got pogo-stick bounce that he showcased throughout drills and scrimmages. He's an energy guy that will give teams headaches this season.

2020 forward Luke Davis: Davis is another player that can jump out the gym and attacks the rim whenever he can. He's got a high motor and high IQ for filling the stretch-4 position. Nice range and touch on his shot as well.

2020 guard Tyriq Brown: Brown is a big combo guard with a quick first step and excels as a downhill driver. He's a vocal guy that keeps guys motivated and gets them in the right position to score. Underrated shooter as well.

2021 guard Darrius Davis: Davis is a combo guard with strength and length. At 6-foot-4, he's got the ability to guard the 1-3 position. He can get to the rim off the bounce and knock down the 3-ball on the wings. He should really grow with this group.

2021 forward/center Jordan Wildy: Wildy is a mobile forward that can play inside on offense but extend to defend the perimeter on defense. He's got a long wingspan that allows him to finish easy around the rim and snatch rebounds on both ends.

2022 guard Jayden Nervis: Nervis is a prospect that's due to turn heads with his ability to defend fullcourt and push the pace on the break. He's a 6-foot-4 guard with a 6-foot-7 wingspan that he uses well to get to the rim and finish in traffic. He can also stretch the defense with his ability to knock down 3-pointers.

2020 guard Shakeel Moore: Moore was out during open gym due to injury but he's a lead guard that's explosive on both ends. He's set to lead a talented and versatile backcourt with his ability to defend and play above the rim.

Keep an eye out for Part 2 on Moravian Prep as it covers their Post-Grad and Regional teams.
