Ron Massey Fall Hoops Classic: Impact Transfers (Part III)

Last weekend’s Ron Massey Fall Hoops Classic featured many of Southern California’s top programs and players. The two-day event also shined a spotlight on some of the more impactful transfers who switched schools over the summer. Below are six players who will don a new uniform this season.

Impact Transfers (Part II)

Darius McClain, from Narbonne to Lynwood

McClain brings an immediate boost in perimeter scoring for the Knights. The rangy 6-foot-3 shooting guard has a smooth 3-point shooting stroke and good feel when attacking the basket off the bounce. His older brother, 6-foot-3 Lowrance McClain, wasn’t in attendance but should also make an impact on both ends of the floor.

Chance Stephens, from Corona Santiago to Riverside Poly

Stephens is one of the better young shooters in Southern California, and if there’s one thing Poly coach Yancy Dodson can do, it’s get his shooters open looks. Stephens will have the pleasure of receiving passes from San Diego State-commit Lamont Butler and learning the ropes of how to move without the ball from senior Evan Oliver.

Zion Sutton, from Narbonne to Westchester

In his first two years at Narbonne, Sutton was a reliable and upstart scorer who competed on both ends of the floor. That mindset will serve the junior guard well under coach Ed Azzam. Sutton is a strong and physical downhill driver and scorer who uses his physically and strength well on the defensive end of the floor.

Syris Turks, from Palos Verdes to Rolling Hills Prep

Turks was a major piece of Palos Verdes’ solid 25-6 team last season and joins a Rolling Hills Prep squad loaded with scorers. Turks can fill it up in his own right, and put him alongside Benny Gealer, JT Tan, Troy Murphy and Vaughn Flowers, and it makes Harvey Kitani’s Huskies even more explosive.

Aibigho Ujadughele, from Chino Hills to Los Altos

Ujadughele saw some extended time off the bench for the Division I state champions last season, but made the move across on the 60 across the 57 to Hacienda Heights. One thing that stands out when you watch the 6-foot-1 guard is the energy and effort he gives defensively.

TJ Wainwright, from Santa Monica to Westchester

Of all the movement discussed in the three transfer pieces, none will be more impactful than Wainwright. The 6-foot-3 shooting guard is one of the premier 3-point shooters in the state and should see plenty of ope looks come his way this season.
