Preseason Player of the Year: 2020 [player_tooltip player_id="801875" first="Brennan" last="Sefrit"], Bedford

The POI is one of the few conferences in the state this year where you could truly make a legitimate argument for any of the players on the first team to be named POY. We’ll give the nod to Sefrit, the league’s leading returning scorer. He also ranks second among returnees in assists, and first in steals and made 3-pointers.

First Team

2020 [player_tooltip player_id="801875" first="Brennan" last="Sefrit"], Bedford (21.2 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 4.0 steals, 92 3PM)

The league’s leading returning scorer, Sefrit’s 92 made 3-pointers last year ranked second in the state. A dynamic scoring threat who also can dish it and defend, look for his assist numbers to bump up this year following the graduation of Abe Weed.

2020 [player_tooltip player_id="801923" first="Cooper" last="Nally"], Bedford (16.5 points, 8.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.7 blocks, 53.9 FG%)

The Robin to Sefrit’s Batman, Nally stuffs the stat sheet, ranking second among returnees in scoring and total rebounds, and third in blocks. An efficient 6-5 big man, he should dominate the paint on both ends of the floor for the Bulldogs.

2021 [player_tooltip player_id="964813" first="Trey" last="Baker"], Martensdale-St. Mary’s (15.7 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.1 steals, 1.3 blocks, 52.6 FG%)

The leading scorer for what should be the league’s best team, Baker will pace a Blue Devils attack that should also be among the best in 1A. He also ranked second on the team in rebounding and blocks.

2020 [player_tooltip player_id="801892" first="Isaac" last="Gavin"], Martensdale-St. Mary’s (12.6 points, 9.0 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 2.1 blocks, 53.8 FG%)

Gavin ranks second among returnees in rebounding and blocks, and is a dominant force on both ends of the floor for a Martensdale-St. Mary’s team that should be at the top of the conference.

2020 Cole Pedersen, Central Decatur (16.0 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.6 steals, 2.7 blocks)

Pedersen led the Cardinals in scoring, rebounding and blocks last year, while ranking second in assists and steals. His 51 blocks led the league last season.
