Recruiting Report: Malik Holland (2020)

Based on what we saw this summer, Malik Holland is looking like one of the most improved players in the DMV for the upcoming season. The 6-foot-3 guard has always been known as a sharpshooter who isn't afraid to take and make big shots, but he logged big minutes during a productive run of play at summer league and appears poised to increase his output from the past season. Holland could form one of the best backcourts in the state alongside George Mason commit Ronald Polite. 

"I like to run off screens," Holland stated when asked to describe his overall game. "I can get open for shots and knock down open threes."

Holland averaged over 16 points per game at DeMatha this summer. He was one of the best three-point marksmen at summer league with a shooting percentage of over 36% from behind the arc. Holland has used the offseason to get stronger, improve his defense and ball-handling in preparation for his senior year.

Right now it looks like Stevenson could be the school to beat in terms of Holland's recruitment. He also mentioned Penn State Harrisburg being actively involved in his recruitment. It seems as though Holland knows what he wants to study and has a clear plan moving forward.

"I want to play basketball in college and become an electrical engineer," he said when asked what his goals are.

If what we've seen these last few months is any indication, Holland appears set for a true breakout this season. The Clippers should be a tough team to beat this year and he will most definitely be one of the reasons why.
