Kota Benson 6’0 2023 G Baboquivari
I highly doubt any of our coaches or scouts attending the event have even seen this guy play prior to the event. He is an incoming freshman and is at a small school. I highly doubt he plays club because I would have definitely heard of him due to his skill level. This kid can absolutely play at the varsity level already. He is impressive handles, can finish at the rim, and can shoot the ball. Keep a close eye out for Kota Benson over the next 4 years.
Eric Holsey 6’2 2021 G Skyline
Holsey is a player I haven’t seen before. Not sure where or if he plays AAU ball at. Holsey is actually a really solid guard and would probably be seen a lot more if he didn’t have a D1 point guard in front of him at Skyline. Holsey is really crafty with his dribble moves and is really good at escaping the double teams and making the right plays. Struggled a bit to score the ball from when I saw him but was a big time play maker.
Justin Shorts 6’3 2022 F Millennium
Love the potential of this guy. I didn’t see him last year at all. From asking around, most people have told me that he was a JV guy who also saw a few minutes on Varsity. Nevertheless, Shorts has great potential. If he can develop a reliable jumper, he will be dangerous. He is an absolute freight train coming down the lane!
Nigel Wilson 6’7 2020 F Catalina Foothills
Nigel has really good size and length. He didn’t particularly shoot it very well but he did a good job of scoring down low. He also showed off his athleticism with some big time blocks and dunks in transition. Wilson has the body to be a really good prospect, just needs a little bit more development.
Brennan Armijo 6’5 2020 F Desert Ridge
I’ve never heard of this guy at all before the event and he came in and absolutely dominated. He’d probably be my pick for Camp MVP as he tore it up all day long. He did everything right! If I had to pick one thing to flaw, it would be his ball handling consistency. Sometimes it looked really clean while other times he lost the ball after making a dribble move. Armijo is really good at attacking off the wing and uses his body well. He also showed off some range with his jumpers!
