Summer Roundup: Stock Risers (2020)

Prep Hoops takes a look at several of the state’s top performers throughout the spring and summer.

5-Kelvin Curry, 6’3, G, 2020, Highland Park, Kansas Hoggs 17U

Another athletic guard for the Hoggs who can handle the ball and score in the paint. He also has good size and is a strong slasher and wing defender. He can also play some on the block and hit corner jumpers 10 feet from the goal. Curry also had some impressive offensive rebounds.

23-Isaac LeShore, 6’4, 2020, Buhler, Kansas MTXE 17U

A lengthy defender and great rebounder on both ends of the floor. LeShore has a nice vertical and can get up and block a shot on the arc or inside. He can get a hand on offensive rebounds and tip them in for two. He has a strong defensive game and is often put on tall scorers on the wing.

25-Jacob Merkle, 6’2, 2020, Eudora, KC Premiere Blue Chips 17U

A good spot up shooter and weak side defender. He is observant on defense and stays with his man and forces them to be aware of their surroundings. He can also play some on the block, but he’s more comfortable shooting from distance than shooting the mid-range or going inside.

14-Raeshon Riddick, 6’3, F, 2020, Manhattan, SSA White

A nice forward player who has strength and brings hustle. He has a good mid-range game and proved he can rebound well on both ends of the floor. He can connect with his jump shot, and did, but looks to get close or pass to a teammate.

7-Daverion Goree, 6’3, G, 2020, Olathe Northwest Team KC Grey

A nice guard and primary ball handler option for Team KC who brings skills and speed to the floor. He is good at bringing the ball up the floor and gets around defenders well in full court settings. Goree is also good at completing slick no-look passes and shows a great deal of skill with the ball in his hands.
