Way Too Early Preview: Cap-7 Power Rankings

<p>The Cap-7 Conference saw Millbrook go 12-0 during the regular season but they stumbled in conference tournament action. Here's a look at a way-too-early preview at the 2019-20 season.</p> <h4>Millbrook</h4> <p>Last year's regular-season Cap-7 Conference winners return<strong> Sam Hood, Noah Dorsey, Will Felton</strong> and add on <strong>Eric Van der Heijden</strong> (Ravenscroft), making them one of the deepest teams in the state. They'll be a difficult squad to defeat for any team in their conference, especially their biggest opponent in 2018-19.</p> <h4>Leesville Road</h4> <p>Leesville Road possesses one of the best players in the 2021 class in <strong>Carter Whitt</strong>. Whitt and his team defeated Millbrook during conference tournament play this past season, showing off what they learned during the regular season. They pose the biggest threat to the Wildcats in 2019-20 as well.</p> <h4>Cardinal Gibbons</h4> <p>Cardinal Gibbons relied heavily on <strong>Mike Walsh</strong> to handle scoring duties in 2018-19 but this upcoming season, that should all change with <strong>Brady Whilden</strong> and <strong>Michael Boney</strong> leading the way. The Crusaders were competitive in conference play last season, going 5-7, this year, they should go above .500.</p> <h4>Sanderson</h4> <p>Sanderson is another team in Cap-7 play that should be competitive once again. They went 6-6 in 2018-19, defeating Broughton, who went 9-3 in league play. They'll be a competitive bunch with <strong>Keyon McKoy</strong> and <strong>Kamon Green</strong> in the backcourt.</p> <h4>Southeast Raleigh</h4> <p><strong>Shamar Hickson</strong> and <strong>Brone Brinson</strong> will have their hands full once again in 2019-20, but with experience under their belt, the result could change. 2022 <strong>Teriq Rouse</strong> is another player to keep an eye on as well.</p> <h3>Broughton</h3> <p>Broughton lost their backcourt of<strong> D.J. Thomas</strong> and<strong> Tynias Peace</strong> as well as <strong>Penn Sealey</strong> and <strong>K.J. Haywood</strong>. With a ton of players to replace in the rotation and a new head coach, it's hard not to expect a step back in 2019-20. </p> <h4>Enloe</h4> <p>Hard to not project a better outcome for a team that went 1-11 in Cap-7 play this past season. With just one win in their final eight games, they're a team still in search of an identity in 2019-20.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
