Class of 2021 Rankings Update: Biggest Risers

Prep Hoops Wisconsin is currently putting the finishing touches on the class of 2021 rankings. Here's a look at which players made the biggest jumps over the summer...

2. Cade Meyer - PF - Monroe/Wisconsin Playground Club

Previous: 14

If I were starting a team and needed to win today, would I pick Meyer second? Probably not. However, the track this kid is on right now has been to steep to ignore. Even since the spring, Meyer has made massive jumps in his game and put himself on the map with high major programs and already picked up two mid-major offers despite averaging less than 10 points per game as a sophomore. An athletic forward that's gaining confidence in his offensive skill set, particularly his ability to shoot from the outside and put the ball on the deck, Meyer's best days still remain ahead of him.

No. 31 John Lovelace - SF - Wauwatosa East/ABC Young Lions

Previous: 56

Lovelace has proven to be one of the more intriguing prospects on the Prep Hoops Circuit. The 6-foot-4 wing just got better and better as the summer progressed and really started to come into his own as a priority scorer. Given his length and athleticism, there's still quite a bit of upside left on the Tosa East standout.

No. 32 Gavin McGrath - C - Onalaska/Wisconsin Playground Club

Previous: 40

It's starting to click for McGrath. Earlier in his career, McGrath lacked the coordination and physicality to play for a shoe circuit team. By the end of July, he was one of the most consistent players for PGC. The 6-foot-10 center did an excellent job of protecting the rim. McGrath has an advanced understanding of how to play vertical and block/alter shots without fouling. McGrath also improved as an offensive rebound/putback presence. Given his size and the way he can move, it wouldn't be shocking to see a Division 1 program roll the dice on him.

No. 35 Hayden Doyle - G - Brookfield East/Wisconsin Playground Club

Previous: 42

Doyle might not wow anybody with size, length, athleticism, or overall skill, but he's a kid you want in your corner and would hate to play against. Just a gamer and someone that can raise his level of play to the competition, Doyle is a blue collar guard that plays with a chip on his shoulder. Doyle defends his tail off and takes pride in shutting his man down. Despite being about 5-foot-11, Doyle can score it better than people think, especially as a mid-range, one-dribble, pull-up shooter.

No. 41 Brock Heffner - PF - Grafton/ABC Young Lions

Previous: NR

A skilled big man who can score in different ways on the block, Heffner has one of the better post-up games in the state from what we've seen. It's a little bit of a lost art and something that's not always utilized anymore with the 3-point line being so important in today's game, but Heffner has go-to ability on the block. Heffner didn't play a ton of varsity last season, but look for him to give a Grafton squad that's reloading nicely next season a nice boost inside.

No. 63 Josh Crubaugh - SF - New Berlin Eisenhower/JH1 Elite

Previous: NR

We haven't seen a ton of Crubaugh yet, but were certainly taken by surprise at the Prep Hoops Summer Challenge. A shooter with size, Crubaugh has terrific range and the ability to knock down contested looks. At 6-foot-3, Crubaugh can also do some things in the post if he gets a smaller man on him.

No. 81 Reece Sproul - F - Stoughton/Wisconsin Rap

Previous: NR

Sproul has a chance to potentially develop quickly and surprise some people over the next year. The lanky, 6-foot-7 forward is a fluid athlete that moves well on the floor. He needs to finish better around the rim against contact, but he's got the skills and athleticism to get to the cup consistently.
