These opinions are formed off of what I see over the summer and which players I have seen over the summer.
Incoming Senior of the Summer: Osasere Ighodaro 6’10 2020 G Desert Vista/Powerhouse Rise
I don’t think anyone in the nation blew up as much as Osasere did this summer. He is hands down the 2020 player of the summer. His recruitment absolutely took off and now he finds himself in a great position with Marquette, Texas, Stanford, and Vanderbilt in his Final 4.
Runner-Up: Kyree Walker 6’5 2020 G Hillcrest Prep/Dream Vision
It is really odd calling Kyree Walker a runner up at anything but I think Osasere had the better summer in terms of growth. Walker has been nationally ranked for a while now and he has seen a ton of offers for years. With that being said, he still had a terrific summer for Dream Vision and looks as dominant as ever.
Incoming Junior of the Summer: Ty Ty Washington 6’3 2021 G Cesar Chavez/Vegas Elite
I think Ty Ty had the best summer out of all 2021’s because he really put himself on the map this summer. He saw a ton of media attention and new offers come in. He finally got a big time D1 offer and that isn’t going to stop now.
Runner-Up: DaRon Holmes 6’9 2021 F Millennium/Powerhouse UAA
Much like Kyree Walker’s situation, it is weird calling Holmes a runner up. However, just like Walker, he has been on the national radar for a while now and everyone knows him. He did see a Kansas offer come in this summer but I think Ty Ty had the better summer overall with how much his recruitment has grown overall.
Incoming Sophomore of the Summer: Devontes Cobbs 6’3 2022 G AZ Compass Prep/Strive for Greatness
Cobbs had a great summer. I was a little curious to see where he’d end up after he left Arizona Supreme and the next thing I know, he’s playing with LeBron James Jr. He got a lot of media attention this summer and that is always a good thing. Get your name out there as much as you can young man, this kid’s going to be special.
Runner-Up: Dylan Anderson 6’10 2022 F Perry/Arizona Supreme
Anderson has gotten a little bit better in terms of development. I didn’t get the chance to see him play a ton this summer but I definitely noticed a skill development increase when I did see him. Keep working and getting better each and everyday!
