Tuesday and Wednesday will be my 3rd annual Southwest Basketball Camp at the Phhacility in Phoenix, Arizona.

120 players from Arizona, California and Nevada. They will be divided into 12 teams of 10 on each team. Each team was assigned a PAC-12 school name and all teams will play 5 times. After each team is done with their 5 games, then one possible extra All-Star game. There will be 3 games with a Top-20, Top-40 and an Underclassman All-Star game.

Before we get to the All-Star games, let's look at some of the fun guard matchups:

Game 1 on main court Jordan Pope (CA) vs Ty Ty Washington.

-Washington is arguably the top AZ guard and Pope is ranked #3 in Nor-Cal for his class, so it should be fun TV. Pope has a tight handle with some serious range and speed. Washington is stronger and bigger plus can score it from all 3 levels. Get your popcorn.

Game 2 on main court Trent Hudgens vs Nahshon Harper.

-These two have been going at it for years. They are friends but both won't back down with their big games. Both are top-tier defenders with jets. Hudgens shoots it better but Harper may have a quicker first step. It will be interesting.

Game 3 on main court Ricardo Sarmiento vs Luke Westermeyer.

-Both tough lead guards who can score it. Sarmiento is a little better shooter and Westermeyer is a better facilitator, we will see what wins out.

Game 4 on main court Montez Taylor vs Steven Cervantes Jr.

-Both can score it from deep and have a nice handle. Taylor uses his speed along with handle to get by and Cervantes uses his range plus changes speeds smartly, so this matchup will go back and forth.

Game 4 on court white Marcus Wady vs Nahshon Harper.

-This is all speed. Wady is a better scorer but Harper is known to lock up, Which will win out?

Game 1 on black court Trey Donaldson vs Isaac Monroe.

-Two way different games. Trey uses his speed and athleticism and Isaac uses his deep range/quick release to be most effective. Should be fun.
