2019 UAA Live Period: Tracey, Bewley twins to bolster Oakland Park Northeast

<p>Coach <strong>Zach Gillion</strong> and Oakland Park Northeast -- one year removed from a trip to the regional final vs. Miami Doral Academy -- suffered through a 4-20 season in 2018-19.</p>
<p>The return of talented 2021 big guard <strong>Wesley Cardet</strong>, the arrival of 2020 transfer <strong>Jadrian Tracey</strong>, along with the enrollment of 6-foot-8 2023 twins <strong>Matthew</strong> and <strong>Ryan Bewley</strong>, should make Northeast a force to be reckoned with in 2019-20.</p>
<p>"I should be going to Northeast," confirmed Tracey (pictured), who is playing with Team Breakdown at the Under Armour Association Live Period in Emerson, Ga.</p>
<p>The versatile 6-6 Tracey can shoot it from the outside. He comes to Northeast after stints at Riverdale High and Oldsmar Christian.</p>
<p>Cardet, meanwhile, landed early offers from Florida, Iowa State, Miami, Southern Cal and USF among others. Thursday, when asked who is recruiting him the hardest, Cardet said, "Iowa State has been hitting me up a lot."</p>
<p>Cardet said he has really been working on his conditioning and eating habits this spring and summer.</p>
<p>The Bewley twins are considered among the top prospects nationally in the Class of 2023 and moved up several age divisions to play with the Team Breakdown 17s Thursday. Friday, they received their first college scholarship offers from Iowa State.</p>
<p>Cyclones assistant coach <strong>James Kane</strong> is an Oakland Park native.</p>
<h4>Gillion on 17s 0-2 start</h4>
<p>Team Breakdown head coach <strong>Kenny Gillion</strong> spoke on the squad's play Thursday. Breakdown fell to the Philly Pride, 70-49, and to Team Charlotte, 55-41.</p>
<p>"Definitely still trying to find the chemistry," Gillion said. "You have a talented group of guys that haven't really played a lot with each other.</p>
<p>"I think any time you hold a team [Team Charlotte] to under 60 points in an AAU game, I mean, it's pretty good. I just thought today our shots didn't fall. I thought we had really good looks. I thought we had wide-open shots with guys that usually make shots and they just didn't make them. ... I just think at the end of the day we had open shots that didn't fall. I'm taking <strong>Jadrian [Tracey]</strong> every day of the week for a top-of-the-key, flat-footed 3. I'm taking <strong>A.J. [Staton]</strong> in the corner for an open 3. I'm taking <strong>Sam [Rolle]</strong>. All of these kids that can shoot."</p>
