BIBSI: 2022 standouts: Part 1

<p>This weekend I covered the 13th annual <strong>Best in Basketball Summer Invitational</strong> at the Phhacility in Phx, AZ.</p> <p>33 varsity teams and one JV battled it out for 3 days. High level competition brought out the best in everyone. Teams learned a lot about themselves in some tough games and hopefully they can take it with them into next weeks live period. </p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Here were some of the rising soph standouts that I hadn’t talked about yet:</p> <p><strong>Elijah Saunders F 6’6 205 Sunnyslope </strong></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">-Thick forward who can score it from inside and out. He can post you up plus shoot it from deep. Rebounds well in area and plays a patient game. Comes off the bench and is an instant producer. </span></p> <p><strong>Awar Anyieth F 6’6 170 Peoria</strong></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">-One of the biggest upsides in the class looks better in every viewing. Great length and nice bounce. Moves well up the court and he can shoot it from the arc. He rebounds well in his area and can defend inside and out.  </span></p> <p><strong>Oakland Fort PG 5’8 155 Sunnyslope</strong></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">-Pure PG with big time speed. Understands the role of the real PG. Great off the pick and roll and makes players around him better. He is a true ball hawk on defense with his unreal quickness. He can make a catch 3 and his pull-up off the dribble is improving. He can rise up high off the ground with great elevation to offset his height. </span></p> <p><strong>Andrew King SG 6’1 165 Desert Vista </strong></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">-Big time catch shooter can get hot quickly. He has a pure stroke and his shot looks good on every attempt. He has the floater game and, when he is engaged, he is very good defensively. </span></p> <p><strong>Mike Dienes SF 6’6 175 Rancho Solano Prep</strong></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">-Long and skinny shooter. He has deep range and no conscience. He keeps firing regardless of if he made the last two or missed three in a row. He rebounds well in area and his scoring avg should jump up dramatically this year. </span></p> <p><strong>LJ Ginnis PG 5’8 150 South Mountain </strong></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">-Elite quickness and speed in the open court. His first step is one of the fastest in the state. A ball hawk on defense and a downhill scorer. He can get by his man at will but can make strides with his perimeter shooting. </span></p>
