Southern JamFest Superlatives: Glue Guys
There aren’t many experiences in grassroots that can compare to the one at Southern JamFest. It’s always interesting to witness teams from across all three sneaker circuits and beyond battle for supremacy. This week on the site we’ve been providing extensive coverage of the tournament beginning with superlatives. Below is a look at five of the best glue guys we saw this weekend.
JACK JENSEN | 6’5 F | 16U TTO ORANGE/WT WOODSON ’21
There is a lot to like about Jack Jensen. At 6-foot-5, he’s a good athlete who displays quick reactions and instinctive timing defensively. Jensen is adept at blocking shots and playing solid help defense.
WILL PAIGE | 5’8 G | 17U TTO ORANGE/PAUL VI ’20
Will Paige is often the smallest player on the court, but in most games makes a major impact with sheer hustle and determination. Paige is a fearless, downhill-type guard with sneaky burst. He can run ball screen actions, get in the paint consistently, and seek contact in the lane.
KARREE SMITH | 6’3 G | 17U PUSH/GREEN RUN ’20
Karree Smith doesn’t need to have the ball to make an impact offensively. He’s a very good scorer in transition with the ability to slash to the basket and finish with either hand. Defensively, he’s active and alert in help side and showed that he is not afraid to take a charge.
PATRICK STRITE | 6’4 G | 17U VA ELITE/BISHOP WALSH ’20
One thing I really like about Patrick Strite‘s game is that he makes the simple plays. He is always moving without the ball and fills the lanes correctly in transition.
REISS WHITAKER | 6’5 F | 16U TTO ORANGE/PAUL VI ’21
Reiss Whitaker is an excellent help defender who understands positioning and demonstrates quick reactions. He’s active on the boards, and whenever a teammate secures the rebounds is quick to get out in transition.
