Standout Wings/Forwards from the DMVelite Live Period Warmup

<p>There were a lot of rising wings and forwards that made noise in Day 1 of the DMVelite Live Period Warmup. Here's a look at some of the standouts.</p> <h2>2021s</h2> <p><strong>J.T. Thor - 6'9 - Boo Williams</strong></p> <p><strong>J.T. Thor</strong> is playing on the 17U squad but he's a good enough to play up a level after a strong season at Huntington Prep. He's a versatile terror on the wing that can get to the paint and finish above the rim and isn't shy about shooting the 3.</p> <p><strong>Aminu Mohammed - 6'4 - Boo Williams</strong></p> <p><strong>Aminu Mohammed</strong> is another 2021 player playing on the 17U level but you wouldn't be able to tell. He's got a high basketball IQ and can fill up the stat sheet with his ability to rebound, defend and score. Look for him to emerge as a two-way role player on this Boo Williams squad.</p> <p><strong>Wesley Peterson - 6'6 - DC Premier</strong></p> <p><strong>Wesley Peterson</strong> led the way on offense for his DC Premier squad against Boo Williams. He's a smart player around the rim and on the perimeter that can dunk it or shoot the 3-ball. Look for his stock to rise on the UA Circuit.</p> <p><strong>Malcolm Dread - 6'5 - DC Premier</strong></p> <p><strong>Malcolm Dread</strong> is the glue guy for his 16U DC Premier club. He does the dirty work, guarding the team's opposing player and forces steals that lead to big finishes around the rim. His brothers, Myles, currently attends Penn State.</p> <p><strong>James Gross Jr. - 6'4 - DC Premier</strong></p> <p><strong>James Gross Jr.</strong> is an athletic freak that can score in bunches. He scored nine points in 10 minutes, showing off his ability to get to the rim and draw fouls on the interior. As he learns his role in the rotation, look for his stock to rise as well.</p> <p><strong>David Jones - 6'5 - Boo Williams</strong></p> <p><strong>David Jones</strong> took over for his 15U Boo Williams squad when they needed him most and he delivered with an impactful performance. He's a bully with the basketball and can get to the rim and finish strong. His rebounding on both ends is his biggest asset. A big offensive rebound and putback in regulation forced the game into overtime.</p> <p><strong>Jelani Darden - 6'4 - Boo Williams</strong></p> <p><strong>Jelani Darden</strong> is another versatile wing but he's a crafty dribbler that can get to the rim at will and finish. He's growing into his wiry frame still so look for him to develop into a shooter.</p> <p><strong>Jordan Hawkins - 6'5 - DMV Stags</strong></p> <p><strong>Jordan Hawkins</strong> was an outstanding performer in a close loss to the Metro All-Stars. Hawkins finished with 16 points, three blocks and two steals showing off his athleticism in a variety of ways on both ends. He's on a non-shoe team but it shouldn't prevent him from garnering some attention from college coaches.</p> <p><strong>Chidera Nwosu - 6'4 - District Basketball Club</strong></p> <p><strong>Chidera Nwosu</strong> is the glue guy for his District Basketball Club with his defensive prowess. He forced a number of steals which then turned into big shots from behind the arc on the other end for him. In a route of the 6th Man Warriors, he scored seven big points for his club. </p>
