Prospect Spotlight: Shawn Hendershot (2020)

<p>A talented multi-sport athletes, Blue Valley North wing Shawn Hendershot put together a s strong junior season.</p> <p>At 6’4, 185-pounds, Hendershot is a selfless, team-first player with a hard-work mindset and a big motor. He takes pride in his defense and at the offensive end, is capable of posting up smaller guards and can take bigger players to the basket or shoot the 3.</p> <p>He is coming off a season in which he averaged 10 points, two steals, shot 82 percent from the free throw line and helped the Mustangs go 16-9 and advance all the substate championship game.</p> <p>“We really started getting things rolling toward the end of the year,” Hendershot says.</p> <p>Also a football standout, Hendershot says a shoulder injury will keep him from running with the KC Spurs this offseason.</p> <p>He says his father has been the biggest influencer on his basketball career to date.</p> <p>“He always pushed me to be the best I could be, was always there to work me out and put me in positions to excel,” he says.</p> <p>While he’s not an NBA fan, Hendershot says he enjoys watching Texas Tech play this past season.</p> <p>“They play extremely hard on offense and defense,” he says. “I see my game similar to Mooney from Texas Tech because he is a bigger guard with the ability to score from anywhere.”</p> <p>While he has not heard from any colleges for basketball, Hendershot has emerged as a football prospect to watch, drawing interest from a host of college programs, including Missouri, Cornell, Missouri State, Tulane, Tulsa, South Dakota State, Eastern Illinois and others.</p>
