Prospect Spotlight: Dylan Garrington (2021)

North Oconee sophomore Dylan Garrington had a big season with the Titans this past winter, and is headed into 16U with a head full of steam. A 5-foot-10 point guard, Garrington mentioned that setting teammates up for success is a primary skill of his. He prides himself on being a general play-maker. “I’m a pass-first point guard, when I need to get a bucket, I can. I think the main thing I can do is shoot the ball, but I have a lot of aspects to my game; I can get to the hoop, I can get my other teammates involved and I can pick it up on defense,” said Garrington. “The main thing I need to work on is being able to finish when I get to the rim, being undersized is tougher than being bigger like other guys, so I think if I can do that then I can play at the next level.” With North Oconee, Garrington played a huge role while averaging 14 points and five assists per game. “I was a captain of the team, which was pretty big because I was the only sophomore that was captain,” he said. “My role was to be the guy, who if we needed a score I was going to be the one we go to.” Garrington will actually be playing his grassroots ball with Illinois Stars 16U on the Under Armour Association. He moved to Georgia from Illinois in eighth grade, but goes back to Illinois in the summer. He played with Atlanta Celtics in the past, but thought it’d be easier to play with the Illinois squad this offseason. “We play on the Under Armour Circuit and I think it’d be great to make it to the finals at the end of the summer,” said Garrington. “And another goal is to just get college coaches interested in me and just show out for them this summer.”
