Top Performances: Day 5 of State Tournament (7A-9A) – Part I

<p>The FHSAA state tournament rolled on Friday with six semifinals between Class 7A, 8A and 9A.</p> <p>Here are the results and below the top performers.</p> <p><em><strong>7A</strong></em></p> <p>Crestview 74, Lehigh 50<br /> Dillard 47, Hillsborough 44 (1 OT)</p> <p><em><strong>8A</strong></em><br /> Lakewood Ranch 60, Fleming Island 38<br /> Blanche Ely 56, Windemere 54</p> <p><em><strong>9A</strong></em></p> <p>Wellington 50, Evans 32</p> <p>Osceola 62, South Miami 54</p> <p><em><strong>Standouts</strong></em></p> <h2><strong>Christian Shaneyfelt, Joshua Young &amp; Keon Buckley (Lakewood Ranch)</strong></h2> <p>Shooting 66 percent from the field will always help the cause. 2020 guard Christian Shaneyfelt picked up his hot play from the region final win over East Lake, with 21 points on 9-of-11 shooting from the field in the semifinal win over Fleming Island on Friday. Pacing him offensively was inside presence 2019 forward Joshua Young (10 points) and 2020 guard Keon Buckley (9 points). I thought the other two starters 2019 guard Lantz Barton and 2020 guard Christian Perez gave the Mustangs a ton of effort and energy with seven points each.</p> <h2><strong>Marcus Purcell, Jaden Voisin &amp; Devin Voisin (Crestview)</strong></h2> <p>The Bulldogs got a fine effort from 2019 trio Marcus Purcell (18 points), Jaden Voisin (18 points) and Devin Voisin (14 points) in the program's first state semifinal win since 1987. Purcell is a brute and a tough guy to limit while the Voisin brothers give you plenty on the glass and as transition players. Also, 2019 forward Chris Basil had nine points on 4-of-6 shooting from the field. Crestview isn't big or lengthy, but the Bulldogs play with grit and will be tough in the final on Saturday.</p> <h2><strong>Linton Brown &amp; De'ante Perez (Wellington)</strong></h2> <p>The duo of 2019 guard Linton Brown and 2020 guard De'ante Perez combined for 28 of their team's 50 points in a semifinal win over Evans. Brown was very active all game long with 15 points and seven rebounds. Foul trouble hurt the attacker and senior leader but Brown continued to fight and will have to once again in Saturday's final. As for Perez, the 2020 speedster got the slew of his points in the second half in transition.</p> <h2><strong>Darron Humphrey &amp; Quinton Desamours (Lehigh)</strong></h2> <p>As a team, Lehigh can't be too pleased with how it shot but 2020 guards Darron Humphrey (13 points) and Quinton Desamours (10 points) were the best pieces rolling in this one. The Lightning were playing in their second state semifinal in three seasons and have the athletes in place to be successful again next year.</p> <h2><strong>Gianfranco Grafals (Fleming Island)</strong></h2> <p>The Eagles made their first-ever state tournament appearance. The top piece offensively was 2019 guard Gianfranco Grafals. He was attacking and doing as much as he could with his team down for nearly the entire game. Grafals finished with a team-best 13 points.</p> <h2><strong>Andy Antoine (Evans)</strong></h2> <p>A big presence for Evans all season long, 2019 forward Andy Antoine had 12 points, six rebounds and five blocks. Antoine was the most efficient shooter for his side hitting 6-of-13 from the field. His team shot 26 percent overall and needed all of Antoine's hard play in his final high school game.</p>
