PREVIEW: Kansas State Tournament: 6A Names to Know

<p>With the 6A state tournament tipping off on Wednesday, now is a good time to break down the names to know going into the tournament. </p> <p><strong>Armahn Downing </strong>(2019) - <em>Washburn Rural</em></p> <p>Armahn has been an integral part of the success that Washburn has had this year with his athleticism and quickness at the guard position. With an ability to play well with or without the ball in his hands, Armahn is a good complement to Jordan White and rounds out a very strong backcourt for Washburn. </p> <p><strong>Jun Murdock </strong>(2019) - <em>Wichita Southeast </em></p> <p>With the arrival of Jackie Johnson III, Jun hasn't seen the opportunities to create for his team this year as much as last year but is still a guard to watch. </p> <p>He handles pressure well and makes good decisions with the ball in his hand. Defensively, he excels when pressuring the ball and has the ability to turn over opposing guards with his disciplined ball pressure. </p> <p><strong>Clarence King </strong>(2019) - <em>Lawrence</em></p> <p>Clarence is a strong guard who can play alongside Quartlebaum and attack the basket often and with success. </p> <p>He is a tough prospect who uses his motor to embrace the "never quit" mentality and has the ability to score from all over the court. As a part of the three-headed monster at Lawrence with Quartlebaum and Mayo, King will need to play well if Lawrence is to advance. </p> <p><strong>Matthew Chapman </strong>(2019) - <em>Blue Valley Northwest</em></p> <p>Chapman is a hard-working, tough interior player for BVNW who makes an impact on both ends of the floor. </p> <p>Defensively he has some success guarding back to the basket post-players and uses his motor to control the boards. He can contribute offensively but in a limited role with the presence of Christian Braun on the team. </p> <p>Chapman just picked up his first offer from William Jewell (Division II).</p> <p><strong>Savian Edwards </strong>(2019) - <em>Washburn Rural</em></p> <p>A small but lightning fast guard, Savian has success through creating opportunities for his teammates. </p> <p>With an ability to get in the lane and make sounds decisions in traffic or score the ball as well, Savian gives the backcourt a different look from the larger guards in Jordan White and Armahn Downing. </p> <p><strong>Micah Jacques </strong>(2020) - <em>Wichita Southeast</em></p> <p>Micah is a good guard to have around Jackie Johnson because of his versatility. Micah can shoot the ball well and also hosts solid handles to drive a closeout and make a play. </p> <p>Micah has been a major contributor to this Southeast squad for the past two seasons.</p> <p><strong>Zeke Mayo </strong>(2021) - <em>Lawrence</em></p> <p>Zeke is one of the state's top 2021 guards in a deep class for Kansas. </p> <p>The youngest part of the three headed monster for Lawrence. At 6'2'' Zeke rebounds well from the guard position and has a well-rounded offensive game even as an underclassman. </p> <p>He has improved his strength and ability to finish and will be a big time prospect in Kansas throughout his high school career. </p>
