With the season winding down and district play set to begin, Prep Hoops takes a look at several players who have put together breakout performances this season.

Byron Alexander, 6’4, G, 2020, Staley

After a strong summer with MoKan Elite’s 16U squad, Alexander has put together a big junior season for Staley. He does a little bit of everything on the floor. He can handle the ball at a high level, create open looks for himself and others while putting up good numbers. He is a very physical guard and can play like a forward at times. He is good at playing off the ball as well and can get open and catch and shoot. Also a solid defender who uses his instincts to go for the steal.

Josh Butler, 6’4, F, 2020, Lee’s Summit West

A rising player with good size and a feel for several positions. He is a slasher with speed, good ball control and a soft touch. He can knock down shots from deep and move in a few feet and still get the bounce. Butler on the defensive end is just as impressive. A shot blocker with good lateral movement.

Cade Berg, 6’6, F, 2020, BSS

An athletic wing player who brings a good motor and a lot of energy to the floor. He is a smart defender, one who can guard the perimeter and some inside, and his constant floor movement provides him with defensive opportunities and open looks on the other end. A player that is developing well the more he plays.

Conrad Hawley, 6’6, F, 2020, Raymore-Peculiar

Also a standout QB for the Panthers’ football team, Hawley is a tall forward who brings energy and hustle to the floor. He is a leader on the floor and is good at rebounding and cleaning up plays inside. He can also hit shots outside the paint and is a good rim protector and shot blocker. He has the ability to shoot from the 3-point line, likes to play on the perimeter and can see over the defense with his size and find the open man.

Jaden Moore, 6’3, G/F, 2020, Lee’s Summit

Moore has terrific size and speed, can get to the basket off the dribble and finish with both hands off balance around the glass. He is a hard worker on both ends and he pushes himself to make shots, make smart passes and do the little things on the floor well. He has a nice jump shot and can fake out opponents and have a clear path to the basket.
