Small School Standouts: 1A

<p>I love watching the small schools compete. Some of the best games come from the 1A-3A teams. Some of the best players in the state, compete for smaller schools. There is good basketball at every level in the state. The first article in this series features players from the smallest classification 1A.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Tommy Murr (Lindsey Lane): </strong>Murr also competes at the 1A level. This kid is known for torching the nets from everywhere on the court and leading the nation in scoring. Murr is a very crafty and confident point guard. On the year, he is averaging 45-4-4. People doubt his true ability, but on the EYBL Circuit this year, Murr will turn heads and earn more D1 offers.</p> <p><strong>Martavius Payton (Georgiana): </strong>Payton is one of the best athletes the state. The 2020 6'6 forward is a fun player to watch. Payton can play both forward sports, but he is a mismatch athletically at the 4 spot. Martavius hits the glass hard and plays above the rim. On the year, he's averaging over 15 and 10. The energy Payton plays with is through the roof.</p> <p><strong>Noah Boler (Decatur Heritage): </strong>Noah is a very steady player. The Lee signee is a steal. Lee is getting a skilled 4 who hits the glass. Noah will fit Lee's system perfectly and have the opportunity to carve out a role as a freshmen. Boler's play has Decatur Heritage as one of the favorites to win the 1A Title.</p> <p><strong>GianCarlo Valdez (Decatur Heritage): </strong>Gian has been the perfect compliment on the perimeter to Boler in the post. This kid can take over games. Valdez has emerged as one of the best wings in the 2020 class. He has a well balanced offensive game, and Gian is a sneaky athlete. He also can guard all 3 perimeter spots. A big state tournament will give Valdez momentum heading into AAU.</p> <p><strong>Titus Griffin (Covenant Christian): </strong>Griffin might be the best pure shooter of the 2020 class. Titus is a 6'1-6'2 combo guard that is very crafty. He understands what shots to take and when. Griffin is a high IQ player that uses the 3 ball to open up the rest of his game. AAU season will be a big opportunity for Titus to show that he is more than a specialist.</p> <p><strong>Jaylon Stevenson (Holy Spirit): </strong>Jaylon is a 6'2 wing that uses his athleticism and physicality. He is one of the best rebounding wings in the state. He just has a knack for finding the ball. Stevenson also knows how to use his body well. Defensively, Stevenson can guard all 3 perimeter spots. This season, Jaylon has averaged 25 points and 11 rebounds while leading Holy Spirit back to the State tournament.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
