Potomac Falls improved to 17-0 after defeating Stone Bridge by a final score of 91-68. Towson Head Coach Pat Skerry and Assistant Coach Patrick O’Connor were in attendance. Here we recap this much anticipated contest with five takeaways.

ANDERSON DOMINATES ON BOTH ENDS

From opening tip, it became quite clear that Ian Anderson would be an essential piece to Coach Hawes’ gameplan. It started on the defensive end, where the 6-foot-7 forward was task with the assignment of defending Evan Buckley. Anderson was also the fulcrum of his team’s offense. He played patiently out of double teams and consistently found teammates for easy looks. Anderson was also incredible on the glass. His unrelenting effort resulted in several second chance points offensively, but also sparked the fast break after defensive stops because he can handle and see the floor so well.

BUCKLEY PERSEVERES

Evan Buckley had a strong overall showing despite his team’s loss. The available point guard, who picked up his most recent offer from Towson, didn’t come out of the game at any point and was the focus of the opposing team’s defensive game plan. Buckley consistently created space and showed that he could score from all three levels, seek contact in the lane, and get his teammates open looks.

HAWES DOES A BIT OF EVERYTHING

Landon Hawes started this game by knocking down two spot up threes, but over the course of the game we saw him do a variety of things well. At 6-foot-4, he is one of the go-to scoring options in the post, but also does a nice job finding his teammates when the help arrives. Hawes also impacted the game on the boards. He is a relentless rebounder who can secure the ball outside of his area with his length and second jump.

RHODES LOOKS SOLID

Isaiah Rhodes showed signs of good potential despite his team’s loss. The 6-foot-5 forward showcased a versatile scoring arsenal. Rhodes is a dangerous spot up three point shooter who is adept at carving out space on the low block. He is efficient with the ball, demonstrates solid footwork, and can finish through contact.

GLUE GUYS THE DIFFERENCE

The other guys were difference makers in this game for Potomac Falls. 2019 guard Damien Harrison defended Buckley for a good portion of this game, and did a nice job rebounding from his position. 2019 Peter White was a standout on defense. He was active and alert when playing passing lanes and contributed on the boards as well. 2019 Hayden Hawes was the primary spark off the bench with his ability to stretch the floor and bring impressive energy.
