5 Takeaways: Central Pointe Christian at IMG

On Saturday night, Central Pointe Christian made the trip down to Bradenton to square off with IMG.

The Ascenders were up for the task as the No. 3 team in the nation (ranked by MaxPreps) used a strong second half to beat Central Pointe Christian 75-59.

Here are five takeaways from the outing.

Robinson-Earl continues to ball out

2019 Villanova commit Jeremiah Robinson-Earl has been the steadiest piece for IMG over the last month or so. The 6'10" senior finished with a game-best 21 points as he added 13 points in the second half alone. IMG started to pull away in the third quarter and it was Robinson-Earl's contagious energy and ability to create inside that stood out. He had nine points in the third quarter and helped things offensively.

Rosa has big upside

Coming alive in the second half, 2020 Central Pointe Christian guard Victor Rosa had some very bright moments. The 6'6" junior finished with a team-high 15 points and was the best pure shooter in the entire game at times. Rosa still has work to do as a true attacking point guard, but his mixture of size, smarts and overall touch is undeniable.

Springer and Bacot fought

Playing through a clear right leg injury, 2020 IMG guard Jaden Springer paced Robinson-Earl with 16 points. All of them were gritty and the 6'3" junior speedster was not himself but that didn't stop him from giving his full effort in the win. 2019 6'10 North Carolina commit Armando Bacot had 13 points of his own as he frequented the free throw line quite a bit in the second half and drew contact in the paint.

Aybar can shoot it

In the first half, 2020 forward Jonathan Aybar was able to find his groove for Central Pointe Christian. At one point, the 6'9" junior hit back to back 3's to help his side keep the game close. Aybar finished with 12 points on the night and left me wanting more. His length and shooting ability will take him far but as he gains more muscle and further situational awareness, he'll be really solid all around. 2020 guard Luis Rolon pitched in with 10 points for CPCA.

Walker is going to be really good

Pictured at the top of the story alongside Springer, 2022 guard/forward Jarace Walker has huge potential. In this game alone, we saw what the 6'6" strong and willed athlete can truly do. He handled the ball up the floor a good portion of the second half and threw down a tough reverse dunk on a perfect quick feed from 2019 Arizona commit Josh Green on the break (VIDEO below). Walker is just scratching the surface of his true talent.

Jarace Walker to Josh Green back to Walker for the reverse slam. @IMGABasketball @JaraceW @josh_green6 pic.twitter.com/wu3lUpz1CR
— ᴊᴀᴋᴇ ᴘᴇʀᴘᴇʀ (@JakePerper) January 26, 2019
