The calendar is close to flipping over to February and the regular season is starting to wind down. There are several good games this week and the All A State tournament takes place in Richmond starting Thursday. Here’s a look ahead at some of the good games of the week.
Monday, January 21:
- The 2nd and 10th region All A Tournaments continue.
- Madison Central travels to Lexington to take on Frederick Douglass. Dashawn Jackson and the Broncos host Que Charlton and the Indians for the first time in school history.
- Malachi Corley and Campbellsville head to Marion County to take on TyShay Epps and the Knights.
Tuesday, January 22:
- Jeffersontown and freshman Brandon Rayzer-Moore travel to Ballard to take on Rashad Bishop and the Bruins.
- Huge game in northern Kentucky as 10th region leader Campbell County travels to the 9th region to take on defending state champions Covington Catholic.
- Louisville Trinity makes the trip to Lexington to face Henry Clay. Marques Warrick and David Johnson should be a high level guard match-up.
- Juniors Reese Smith and Grant Hotchkiss have Boyle County rolling all of a sudden. They travel a county over to take on Carter Baughman and Kaelin Drakeford of Mercer County.
- Male’s Junior trio of Noah Courtney, Tyren Moore and Howard Fleming head to Waggener to throw down against JJ Kalakon, Dallas Rufus and Kevion Hudson.
Wednesday, January 23:
- DuPont Manual heads to Butler in a match-up between top 30 Juniors Eli Roberts and Trey Minter.
- Cooper heads to Conner in a 9th region showdown. Jalen Scott is back from injury for Conner while TJ Deere remains one of the top shooters in northern Kentucky.
Thursday, January 24:
- The All A state tournament starts in Richmond. Look for previews coming later this week.
- Lyon County prodigy Travis Perry and the Lions head to Caldwell County to take on Derrin Boyd and the Tigers.
- Scott County continues their run to a perfect in-state record when they travel up the road to Douglass to take on the Broncos.
Friday, January 25:
- The All A state tournament continues in Richmond.
- Warren Central travels to Bowling Green in a rematch from a 4 point BG win last week.
- PRP makes the trip to Butler. The Panthers are buoyed by the addition of Junior James Taylor and Butler looks to defend home court as the favorite to win the 6th region.
- Madison Central heads to Trinity where the Shamrocks will look to avenge a buzzer beater loss to the Indians last season.
Saturday, January 26:
- The Nathan McCurry Classic takes place at John Hardin. Matchups include: Hart County v. North Hardin, Adair County v. E-Town, LaRue v. Central Hardin and John Hardin hosting Scott.
- Bullitt East travels to Collins in a matchup between 2020 point guards when Zak Perdew and Dayvion McKnight go head to head.
- Beechwood makes the trip to Newport Central Catholic in a game between two schools who could have been playing in the All A tournament this week.
- Louisville Trinity continues it’s travel heavy schedule as they make the trip to Versailles to play Woodford County. Ashton Myles-Devore has been playing well for Woodford lately while Stan Turnier is a steady player for the Rocks.
