The Expo: Ohio - Nate's Top 5 Standouts

Prep Hoops covered The Expo: Ohio in Hilliard, Ohio at Westwood Fieldhouse on Saturday, September 26th. The players at this event were prospects in the 2027 and 2028 classes from across Ohio. In this article, I'll break down and evaluate my top 5 standouts that really caught my eye during Saturday's event! This senior wing clearly separated himself early as one of the best prospects in the gym. [player_tooltip player_id='2395398' first='Chayce' last='Brantley'] has elite explosiveness paired with a long wingspan allowing him to make an instant impact on both ends! He plays with a relentless motor that translates to creating turnovers and transition dunks. Brantley has long strides that allow him to cover the floor well when attacking the basket. He's a very crafty finisher inside through contact. Brantley competes with a next-level motor and never gives up on a play! I like how he attacks the basket with the intent to score. Off the ball, he is constantly moving and cutting looking for the ball. Brantley will certainly be senior to keep an eye on in Northeast, Ohio this year for the CVCA Royals! Aiden has next-level speed and ability to see the whole floor as a facilitator. He's a natural ball handler who handles himself very well versus pressure. As a shooter, he sets his feet and has strong mechanics on his shot form. He's a pure sniper in the corner! Offensively, he impressed with a quick double crossover into making a difficult step-back three-pointer. My favorite part of Aiden's game is his high motor. [player_tooltip player_id='3576919' first='Aiden' last='Boschen'] never stops competing on both ends! Defensively, he sits down and fully commits to pressuring the ball the whole length of the floor. He was clearly one of the most intense defenders of the day. Boschen gives you his full effort on every play on both ends and that's why I see a high ceiling for this senior point guard! Braden is a physically strong and built combo guard who exerted himself immediately on the floor at The Expo. Fleming has a quick isolation game that will either result in a clean finish at the rim or a rhythm pull up jumper. He can finish inside with either hand. [player_tooltip player_id='3566030' first='Braden' last='Fleming'] has exceptional feel and pace to his game. He plays out of a triple threat and controls the offense with his ball handling and ability to rise and fire at any spot on the floor. Flemings is a pure hooper who excels at getting straight downhill in transition and in the halfcourt looking to finish or kick to an open shooter. This junior has a college motor and loves to compete and win his matchups! Xavier is a pure gamer who knows how to create for himself offensively. He is a crafty finisher in the paint who uses his athleticism to convert difficult baskets. Wohlheter will immediately look to pull up and hit his quick three-pointer. He's a very athletic combo guard who uses his ball handling and crossover to create separation from his defender. [player_tooltip player_id='3737852' first='Xavier' last='Wohlheter'] continued to fight on every play and showed his high IQ and motor throughout The Expo. He will flat out take his opponent to the basket and lay it in when given the space. I liked his defensive instincts and ability to anticipate the ball as a pressure defender. Xavier is looking to have a big junior year for Massillon Perry! Shawn has a long wingspan and elite athleticism which he uses to convert difficult baskets in both halfcourt and transition. He is an explosive athlete who converted a put back dunk! I like his activity cutting to the basket looking to finish at the rim. [player_tooltip player_id='3777711' first='Shawn' last='Wilson'] flat out knows how to finish with fluidity and authority! Defensively, I was impressed with his activity with on-ball pressure as well as staying active in the gaps both with his hands and feet. Wilson looks the part and has the physical tools to make an impact at the next level. This athletic junior is looking forward to taking a big jump this season at Columbus South!
