Last year, there was a race at the top and in the middle of the pack in Region 5, and this coming season, you can expect a lot of the same. Even though there will be some favorites and a few teams we have picked to be at the top, this region is wide open.

Hansen has been improving his game quietly over the past few years, and he is ready to make a big jump in his play. He averaged over 14 PPG, and he should be flirting with more 20-point-a-game performances this coming year. In Region 5, having a player who will do more than just score the ball to impact the game could be the difference-maker for the team that wins the region. Hansen fits that mold.

Faddis might be among the top players in his class and maybe the state who are ready to have an explosive year. Once again, having a player who can do all the things and score the ball could be the biggest difference in this region, and Faddis is among those players. Last season, Faddis was a 12-and-5 player, and he could be closer to a 17-and-7 player this coming season. Those are impressive numbers that he could pull.

Peterson might be the best all-around stat stuffer in the region, and he is Box Elder's leading scorer coming back. he put up 10 points a game, and he also had 2 rebounds a game to go along with over 3 assists a game. His ability to score and contribute in other ways could keep Box Elder in the mix.

Roy had a great run this past season, and Parker is eager and ready to take over the reins. The number of games in which Parker does not score in double figures will decrease this coming season. Look for Parker to use that 3-ball more often this coming season, and that could be the difference-maker in games.
