2026 AZ Freshman Showcase: Eye-Catchers Pt. 4

I attended the 2026 PrepHoops Arizona Freshman Showcase at Inspire Courts in Gilbert, AZ on September 5. This was my first time watching most of these players, and I came away extremely intrigued by the class of 2030, as this class is loaded with talent. Here's the final article highlighting the players who caught my eye.    Excellent ball handler with great control of the rock. Able to work his way into the paint with a low dribble, quick bursts and change-of-pace movement. Reliable catch-and-shoot threat from beyond the arc. Plus player on defense, flying across the court for block attempts on taller players and going for steals at opportune times.     Three-level scorer, with the ability to pull down rebounds on the defensive end as well. On offense, he can put the ball in the hoop a few different ways: drive-in floaters or straight layup attempts, pulling up in the midrange off the dribble, and hitting step-back threes. Reliable handle to go along with it, helping him get better looks on those drives and pull-ups.     Solid rebounder at both ends, going up with power on his snags. On the offensive end, can follow his rebounds up with put-back attempts. Able to get off clean shot attempts in the post and get himself inside through spin moves and pump fakes. Dangerous in transition as well, reading the outlet and breaking free for layups.     An effective downhill driver and scorer in the lane. When driving into the paint, he does well to force contact while still giving himself a clean layup attempt, using arm extension to protect the ball and get the foul call to go his way. Showed he can hit it from beyond the arc as well, with multiple conversions on pull-up three pointers.     Dangerous in transition, whether he's starting the break off a strong defensive rebound or running and waiting for the outlet pass. He can go coast-to-coast himself or find a lane and open himself up for a bucket the other way. Showed he can hit it from the three-point line as well.     Relentless fighting for offensive rebounds, either handing his team an extra possession or putting it back in and finishing himself. Even at the SG position, he can muscle his way into the post and body up a defender. Sturdy on-ball defense, which opens up steals and fastbreak layups the other way.     Can effectively play both the 2 and 3, which offers more long-term upside. Uses a range of techniques to score in the post or when he starts his cadence at the top of the key: spin moves to operate in the post and finish off a layup, a pump fake into a side step for the three, and a jab step that catches defenders off guard before he drives.     Undersized, but he slashes to the basket anyway, wiggling through defenders and using that small frame to his advantage. Sharp vision, and can dish to the open man when he goes baseline. Consistently plays with active hands on defense, forcing the occasional turnover.     Great at pulling rebounds down at either end. And on the offensive glass, he finishes it off himself with put-back attempts. Showed real capability as a passing big too, gaining ground and holding his position in the post before scanning and dishing to open teammates.
