Freshman Showcase Recap: Team 1 Evals

This last Freshman Showcase was one of the best that we have put together so far. Tons of talent ready to storm the high school scene, and we still have a couple more teams to get to after this. Let's take a closer look at the nine players on Team 1 and break down how they each stood out at the showcase. Stay tuned for Team 7 and 8 evaluations, as well as our picks for All-Showcase performers.    Dollente was a pretty impressive guard who attacked with his quickness, pace, and reactions on both sides of the court. Showed a little shake and bake to get into gaps and create paint touches, and also was a lightning rod in transition. Kept that intensity up on the defensive end, hounding the ball and staying ready off the ball to jump some passes and turn defense into quick offense.     Sathish was a very active player who came out with good energy from the start. Got some early deflections and steals, was a willing passer in the half and in transition, making some great passes up the floor, and showed he can space the floor from 3-point range. Did a great job looking to advance play and make the right pass in different situations.     Agbayani was another player who came with great energy and was a key guy in transition on both ends of the floor. More than anything, it was his competitiveness and readiness that helped him maintain a consistent impact. He rebounded well, whether it was fighting for contested boards or chasing down long rebounds, and got his hands going on the defensive end to earn some deflections and strips.     Aikens was one of my favorite point guards at the showcase as he displayed a natural feel for influencing their offensive flow and an ability to create from various spots on the floor. Had good touch from each level, but what really stood out was his handle, ability to manipulate defenders, and his vision for attacking. A lot of that showed up with his ability to attack gaps, split defenders, and get to the paint, but he also made some great moves down rebounding lanes for offensive boards and showed an overall ability to read the game.     Stroupe was just a kid who was all around the ball, all day long. He played ready, was quick to loose balls, rebounds, worked hard on the defensive end, and when he got a steal or defensive board, he was out and running looking to attack in transition. Loved his pace and aggression, and he stood out as a hard worker across every phase of the game.     Another standout point guard, Bodecker played within himself and controlled while having a pretty big impact on the day. Showed the ability to knock down outside shots, pull up short on drives and sink floaters and runners, and did a great job feeling out space and understanding where his best opportunities were. Played with a good motor, led breaks well, and flashed with his IQ making a bunch of little impact plays.     Witt is an athletic wing with some size who has the ability to impact the game in a lot of ways. Stood out for his finishing at the cup, an eagerness to get involved on the break, and the intuition to make some key cuts in the half court. But with his size and athleticism, he's also a guy who can help out on the glass, guard multiple positions, and create some off the bounce to the paint.     Ratcliffe is a long wing player who has a pretty raw physical makeup with is big wingspan and wiry frame, and already showcases the skill to score from every level. He really liked to work in the midrange and had the size to shoot over most defenders, but he also showed some physicality and toughness with some of his drives where he was not going to settle for anything but a layup. Spread the floor with some threes as well, and has caught our eyes as a 2030 wing to keep tabs on this winter and beyond.     Wyatt III showed some real ability to stretch the floor and did a great job working into space in different scenarios. Whether it was spotting up in transition, finding space off screens, or flowing with drives to spot up for kick outs, he showed the movement and footwork to be an asset to his team from behind the arc. He also worked in some pick and rolls where he showed patience as a ball handler for late passing windows to open up.
