We recently updated our class of 2028 rankings in the state of Virginia, going to 142 prospects from across the state we believe will be players to keep an eye on moving forward. Obviously the list will change plenty over the next two seasons, but for now here's a look at part one of some of the top juniors in the Hampton Roads area.

#31) [player_tooltip player_id='2916383' first='Rashad' last='Shaw'] | 6'2” CG | Landstown

Shaw will be in the run for Beach District Player of the Year this season, as he was huge his sophomore season for Landstown who made a run to the state finals last year, and this year he'll be their go-to guy on a team that could make another run this year. The 6'2” combo is a big time athlete who thrives in transition and when he gets downhill where he can play above the rim effortlessly and with authority, he is very strong when he gets in the paint to play through contact, he can score it from multiple levels off the bounce, and he is a good rebounder and defender as well.

#39) [player_tooltip player_id='3659462' first='Javen' last='Little'] | 6'8” C | Catholic

Little transferred to Catholic this summer from Diniwiddie, and will give them some much needed size to go along with their perimeter scoring and will make them a tough team to matchup with. The 6'8” center is a load in the paint with good vertical athleticism to finish and challenge shots, he is a good rebounder on both ends of the floor, he has soft touch around the rim and out to the midrange area as well, and he's heading to a program that is known for developing prospects and can hopefully get the most out of his potential.

#59) [player_tooltip player_id='2918953' first='Marc' last='Johnson'] | 6'0” CG | Lake Taylor

Johnson was a big part of Lake Taylor's run to the Class 3 state championship where they lost to Petersburg, and he's part of one of the top backcourts in the area with him being one of the catalysts for them. The 6'0” guard is a sniper from deep with a quick release and in the gym range, he can create for himself and others off the bounce using ball screens and pushing in transition, he's a strong finisher with craft to negate his size, and he has good instincts on the defensive end too.

#72) [player_tooltip player_id='3554526' first='Daevon' last='Reed'] | 6'0” CG | Maury

Reed was a breakout player in the 757 as a sophomore last season, and he'll likely take an even bigger jump this season as their primary ball handler and playmaker this year. The 6'0” guard is a smooth athlete who is shifty off the bounce and has good burst to get by defenders, he can knock down shots from multiple levels both on and off the ball, he has good feel and vision as a passer, and he can make plays on the defensive end too.

#81) [player_tooltip player_id='3554560' first='Grant' last='Rohner'] | 6'4” SF | Catholic

Rohner is part of a very deep Catholic team with a lot of weapons on the perimeter, and he's one that gives them versatility and allows them to play different styles. He has good positional size and can play multiple positions if they need him to, he can space the floor and knock down shots from deep, he's good in the midrange coming off curls and getting to his pull-up, and he has a good IQ and instincts on both ends too.

#105) [player_tooltip player_id='3554562' first='KJ' last='Whaley'] | 5'11” PG | Green Run

Whaley had a big sophomore season for Green Run, and with another year of experience and going into his junior year as their go-to guy he is set to have an even bigger season this year. While he isn't the biggest guy he's got great small guard tools as he plays with intensity and a high motor on both ends of the floor, he's quick off the bounce and has good speed in the open floor, he can make plays for himself and others off the bounce, and he sets the tone defensively with his on ball pressure.
