2028 Standout Brendan Barrett is Hearing from Mid and High Majors

Barrett competes with MPJ Elite and spoke with Prep Hoops Kansas about the season he had. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>"(The season) went good," Barrett explained. "We won a lot of games and got better every weekend we played together. Personally, I think I made more of a national name for myself and showed I'm a true point guard. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>"A highlight of my summer was the very last live period in Bryan, Texas. We finished this tournament undefeated and I had a 20 point and 10 assist game vs PAC, a 20 and 5 assist game, and a 15 point and 5 assistt game."</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Barrett not only made a name for himself with MPJ Elite, but also during the June scholastic open period and when college coaches could start contacting 2028 players. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>"One highlight of my summer was when June 15th rolled around and college coaches could contact me directly. I had ten plus coaches text me expressing interest including some schools like Virginia Tech, Kansas State, Nebraska, and Utah State."</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>What schools Barrett hearing from the most at the moment?</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>"Right now Liberty and Northern Iowa are probably talking to me the most," Brendan said. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Barrett is a point guard that plays at Lawrence Free State High School in Kansas. He's already been a two year varsity player and last season Barrett earned honorable mention all state and third team all league. Prep Hoops KS listed Brendan as a second team preseason all state pick with the knowledge that he is capable of even more than that! And Barrett is ready to work for it. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>"The main thing I want to do right now is get my high school team ready to hopefully make a run at a state championship. I'm also attending some elite camps and wish to secure some offers from them."</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>And if you haven't seen Brendan play, how would he describe himself to a new fan watching Free State play?</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>"I would describe my game as a true point guard who takes pride in facilitating and getting my teammates open looks before I get mine," Barrett explained. "But I can also get to my spot and get an easy bucket if we need one."</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>It's a big 12 months ahead for Barrett. There are camps to attend followed by open gyms where coaches will watch him, and then the winter season followed by the 17u season. At this time next year those mid major and high major interests (he also has a pair of offers from Weber State and Jacksonville) hope to become strong scholarship opportunities. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
