2029 Updated Rankings: New Names to Know

Our <a href="https://prephoops.com/virginia/rankings/virginia-high-school-boys-basketball-2029-class-player-rankings/">Updated 2029 Rankings</a> have expanded to include 100 players in the sophomore class. Camps, showcases and tournaments during June and July provided plenty of opportunties for our staff to evaluate prospects from around the state. Here is a closer look at a handful of sophomore prospects who earned their way into our rankings for the first time.    Connor is a quick, attacking lead guard with an impressive command of the basketball. He consistently puts pressure on the defense off the dribble and has good vision, allowing him to create opportunities for teammates. The sophomore is also a capable perimeter shot maker when left open and competes on the other end of the floor as an effective on-ball defender. Connor has made the move to Catholic High School for his sophomore season.     An All-Conference selection last season, Mason is a skilled scoring guard who is comfortable playing with or without the ball in his hands. He is a dangerous perimeter shooting threat from beyond the arc, changes speeds well and can effectively get into the lane off the dribble. Mason is especially valuable as a scoring secondary ball handler who can create offense while also playing effectively off the ball.     Jefferson is an athletic, slashing wing with good positional size and length. He is especially effective in the open floor and in transition, where his athleticism allows him to attack the basket and finish around the rim. Jefferson plays with a high motor on the glass at both ends and possesses the size, length and athleticism to develop into a high level, versatile defender.     Adamik impressed with Steward during the June live period and again with Team Richmond at Big Shots in July. The sophomore is a skilled guard with an impressive command of the basketball who changes speeds well and knows how to play in ball screen situations. He is also a capable perimeter shot maker with range beyond the arc. A high academic prospect in the 2029 class, Adamik has an intriguing combination of skill, decision making and shooting ability.     Jenkins was a double-digit scorer for Triple Threat throughout the spring and summer. He is a skilled three level scorer with a quick release and efficient shot preparation, making him a perimeter threat who can stretch the floor. Jenkins plays with a high basketball IQ and also contributes as an effective rebounder from the perimeter. Expect him to take another step forward and have a productive sophomore season.
