North Augusta, SC — The Grassroots Finale concluded the summer AAU schedule with 24 eighth grade teams competing in North Augusta, as Florida Vipers defeated Alabama Fusion Turbo in the championship game. After highlighting the top athletes and ball-handlers from the eighth grade division, our coverage continues with a look at the top defenders. The players featured below consistently caused problems on the defensive end with their ability to pressure the ball, force turnovers, defend multiple positions, contest shots, and use their length, strength, quickness, and physicality to make opposing offenses work for quality looks...

Kardan Adams consistently provided quality defense at the point of attack during the Grassroots Finale. He did a good job slowing down the basketball, forcing opposing guards to work laterally rather than allowing them to consistently get downhill. His ability to contain penetration made a noticeable difference for his team defensively.

Daniel Olubunmi Aiyepeku had a knack for creating problems defensively at the Grassroots Finale.
