Grassroots Finale: 7th Grade Intangibles

North Augusta, SC — The Grassroots Finale brought the summer AAU schedule to a close with 26 seventh grade teams competing in North Augusta, as Demone Harrison Basketball Club defeated The Collective Elite in the championship game. After highlighting the top athletes, ball-handlers, defenders, rebounders, and scorers from the seventh grade division, we conclude our coverage with a look at the top intangible players. The players featured below consistently contributed beyond individual statistics, helping their teams through toughness, effort, communication, basketball IQ, unselfish play, and a willingness to handle the small details that contributed to winning...    BJ Blackwell put together a complete performance from the point guard position at the Grassroots Finale. He created quality looks for teammates, delivered passes on time and remained a capable scorer when opportunities came his way. Blackwell also competed defensively and contributed in areas that went beyond his offensive production. He consistently made winning plays and handled whatever his team needed from him.     Tremikeal Colbert impacted just about every area of the game for his team at the Grassroots Finale. His size and skill set allowed him to contribute as a scorer, rebounder, defender and playmaker depending on what was needed. Colbert consistently found ways to influence possessions without having to rely on one particular part of his game. His ability to provide production in so many areas made him extremely valuable whenever he was on the floor.     Jaivir Dhillon consistently handled the details that helped his team at the Grassroots Finale. He defended, competed for loose balls and stayed involved in plays even when he was not directly part of the offense. Dhillon understood how to contribute without needing touches or scoring opportunities to remain effective. His willingness to take care of the smaller responsibilities added considerable value to his team.     Aiden Harris might have been one of the best finds at the Grassroots Finale with the all-around ability he brought to the Florida Vipers. An athletic and skilled wing, Harris contributed across the board and had the versatility to fill several different roles within a game. He could score, defend, rebound and make plays for others while consistently doing things that contributed to winning. Harris has a well-rounded game that makes him a prospect worth following closely moving forward.     Jackson Smith's versatility was a major factor in the winning plays he consistently made at the Grassroots Finale. The combo forward was effective in several roles, contributing offensively while giving his team flexibility with how he could be used defensively. Smith could impact possessions in different ways without needing the game to run through him.
