Louisiana Sophomore ID Camp: Top PG's and Combo Guards

There's nothing like watching a good guard control the game and make everybody around him better. The Top Sophomore ID Camp Showcase had plenty of point guards and combo guards who caught my attention with their confidence, playmaking, scoring ability, and feel for the game. Some ran the show and kept their teammates involved, while others proved they could go get a bucket whenever their team needed one. A few of these guards also made a strong case for a spot on the All-Showcase Team, which will drop later this week. Be sure to stay locked in and follow along to see who made the cut!    [player_tooltip player_id='3722364' first='TJ' last='Beaulieu'] is a true, natural point guard who understands how to run a team and make the players around him better. His compact, strong frame allows him to handle pressure, play through contact, and apply consistent pressure on opposing defenses. Beaulieu keeps his head up, surveys the floor, and looks to create opportunities for his teammates while still knowing when to attack. Defensively, he uses his strength and lateral quickness to disrupt ballhandlers, and scraps for deflections and steals. TJ continued to build on an impressive summer and made a strong case as one of the top sophomores in the camp.     Daniel Westley is a high-IQ scoring point guard who stays under control and consistently makes the right play. He displayed an all-around game, balancing his ability to create for teammates, score when needed, and provide steady leadership on the floor. Westley knows how to create space and get his shot off, and he can heat up in an instant once he sees a few shots fall. He also operates smoothly in pick-and-roll situations, reading the defense and making the right decision as a scorer or facilitator. As Westley settled into the camp environment, his confidence and feel for the game began to stand out. By the end of the showcase, he had firmly established himself as one of the top point guards in attendance.     Andre Bright is a true floor general with a tight handle who understands the importance of valuing each possession. He makes the game look easy as he smoothly navigates around defenders and gets wherever he wants on the floor. Bright is equally comfortable pushing the tempo in transition or commanding the offense in a half-court setting. His poise, control, and ability to dictate the pace stood out throughout the camp, and he definitely showed why he is considered one of the best point guards in his class.     Travis is one of them ones, and he definitely showed why. He is super competitive and active, and I love how hard he plays and his willingness to do whatever is needed to impact winning. Travis rebounds extremely well for a point guard and consistently goes at opponents on both ends of the floor. He is dangerous when attacking the rim but can also keep defenses honest by knocking down shots from distance. It will be exciting to follow his progress as he continues to develop and establish himself as one of the top guards in his class.     [player_tooltip player_id='2947703' first='Devin' last='Kinchen'] was one of the smoothest scorers in the gym, displaying the ability to put points on the board from all three levels. He played under control, got to his spots, and showed a polished offensive game without forcing the action. Kinchen was especially dangerous from beyond the arc, where he established himself as a knockdown three-point shooter who had to be accounted for at all times. Whether he was finishing at the rim, pulling up in the midrange, or letting it fly from deep, Kinchen made scoring look easy and proved to be a tough cover throughout the showcase. What I liked too, was that even with him hunting for his offense, he still didn't force up bad shots and also made the extra pass when it was available.
