McCarthy is a strong, productive forward who has inside/outside scoring ability. The rising senior knows how to play and is an efficient scorer in the paint with either hand. He is a better than average athlete who plays with a high motor and is a consistent rebounder at both ends of the floor.

McCarthy is another player on this list who hasn’t just been productive in this event, but throughout the entirety of summer league. The 6-foot-7 forward is skilled from 15-feet and out where he can face up and surprise opposing bigs with a quick first step. When he’s open from beyond the arc and can set his feet, he’s capable of knocking down three’s, but his bread is buttered around the rim on drives or touches in the mid-post where he can finish with either hand. He brings a motor and effort running the floor, crashing the glass and coming up with 50/50s amongst the trees. He churned in a productive 20PTS and 9REBS off the bench in a tight loss to Potomac.

-McCarthy stood out more in the second game of the day as he made the adjustment to get into his move more quickly on catch and finish opportunities in the paint against a swarming Carroll defense. McCarthy froze his defender with a euro step to score the layup in transition, stepped through two defenders after he snagged a tough chest pass in traffic to hit a hook shot off the window, scored off his back foot on a reverse pivot bucket at the rim, and served as a great passer to cutters and shooters alike from the high post. Love the way that he does his work early on the glass to push his opponent out of the way with his lower body to position himself for rebounds around the basket and he flashed a pretty reliable set of hands whether the entry pass was above his head or below his midriff. Intriguing skilled four prospect to track in the 2027 class.
