Admittedly, we are past due for a rankings update. With the Class of 2029 it is time to release our first crack at ranking the Top 25 prospects as well as expand our ever-growing Watch List. For that initial Watch List, which featured over 150 prospects, you essentially needed to be one of the very best incoming freshmen in the state, be on a varsity roster for the Charlie Hughes Showcase, or attend our annual Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase. From there, we have spent the last year evaluating these young prospects and are finally in a place to make some decisions and release our first Top 25 rankings. We have also added over 125 new names bringing our database total to nearly 300 prospects in the Class of 2029. We are proud of the work we have done to cover, evaluate, and highlight so many of these young prospects.

We always drive home the point that our rankings are an inexact science. However, that is even more true with the younger classes. There are still, likely, several quality names that we simply aren't aware of yet because they haven't played at the varsity level or gotten the necessary exposure via summer basketball, showcases, etc. That is why our Watch List grew so rapidly with this update and we are keeping the rankings short and concise with a Top 25.

Additionally, with the younger classes, it can be even harder to weigh the production versus projection argument. Some of the highest upside prospects haven't played varsity basketball yet, and might not even as a sophomore, while they continue to develop their skill level. Conversely, there are physically mature freshmen who were in a position to produce at a high-level right away, but the path to college basketball isn't nearly as clear. It is difficult to weigh production versus projection, and again all of this is an inexact science, but it is important to know that PROJECTION is what we are looking for over PRODUCTION when rankings prospects. I am always happy to have that conversation and explain my thought process further as needed.

Finally, I am always very transparent when it comes to rankings. My email address is coachbrandonramsey@gmail.com or you can find me on Twitter @BRamseyKSR. Reach out to me if you have any questions or if you would like to submit information to be considered at the next update. We do these 3-4 times a year because we know it is an inexact science. There will always be someone flying under-the-radar. However, at Prep Hoops Indiana, we do as good of a job as possible covering every single corner of the state and finding good players from high-major Division I prospects to Division III prospects and everything in between. Between coaching at the collegiate level, running my own scouting service, and now working here at Prep Hoops Indiana I've been involved in the player evaluation and recruiting world for over 15 years. I am here to help you above all else. Please never hesitate to reach out with questions, comments, or concerns.

One last note, some of the profiles included in the Watch List are incomplete. While I did take some time to clean things up, for the most part I left the information provided unchanged. Therefore, if you notice that your position and/or high school is not listed please contact me directly and I will get that updated immediately. Similarly, if you notice anything WRONG within your profile (name misspelling, height, position, high school, etc.) please reach out to me directly as well.
