We recently updated our 2027 class rankings in Virginia, with it being one of the deepest rankings I have been apart of in my 10 years with the Prep Hoops VA site. We will take a look at some of the top players in each region of the state from a positional standpoint, starting with the top 10 guards in the Central/Southern/Western areas.

#5) Jordan Hunter | 6'3” CG | Hargrave

Hunter really broke out on the national scene last year leading Hargrave to the Elite Prep League championship, and he's continued that as he's been one of the top guards on the 3SSB Circuit so far this spring. The 6'3” combo is absolutely dynamic as he has great end-to-end speed in the open floor and burst in the half court, he lives in the paint and puts pressure on the rim, he can knock down shots when defenders go under screens, and he has all the tools to be a top tier on ball defender.

#28) Zyon McGlone | 6'1” PG | Oak Hill Academy

McGlone is another absolute freak of an athlete at the point guard position, as he can play above the rim as a finisher and as a shot blocker like a big man, while also being able to create like a guard. He's shifty off the bounce and can create space or get downhill, he has great hang time and is strong enough to finish through contact, and he is a very good defender as well.

#30) Jayden Brown | 6'3” CG | STAB

Brown has been one of the most improved guards in the entire state over the past few years, and he is looking every bit like a division one prospect so far this spring with Local Legends NXT. He's been one of the best perimeter defenders since he was a freshman and still can lock down elite scorers, he has really improved with his ability to create shots for himself and others, he shoots it well from deep, and he's an athletic and crafty finisher around the rim.

#44) Noah Farley | 6'0” CG | Hargrave Varsity

Farley has had a fantastic high school career as he was an All State selection the last two seasons at Floyd County, and he will transfer to Hargrave to play against bigger competition and try to get more exposure for college coaches. The 6'0” combo is an absolute dead eye shooter from deep with unreal confidence in his shot, he has deep range and a quick release allowing him to get his shot off with little to no room, and he can create shots for himself and others on the ball too.

#48) Justin Huang | 6'3” CG | Blue Ridge

Huang was the number one guard in Taiwan before transferring to Blue Ridge his sophomore season, and he's one of the most well rounded and underrated guards in the entire state. He plays with purpose every time he's out there as he hits angles and gets downhill where he's a good finisher and playmaker, he competes defensively and is excellent in fast pace and pressing styles, he can knock down open shots, and he simply makes winning plays for his team especially when they need it.

#49) Antonio Mack | 6'3” CG | North Cross

Mack is one of the most impressive athletes you will find in the Roanoke area if not the entire state, and he's a super intriguing prospect with a lot of upside to his game. At 6'3” he has extremely long arms and is able to play above the rim as a finisher and rebounder with ease, he can score the ball in a variety of ways both on and off the basketball, and he has all the tools to be a lock down perimeter defender as the next level.

#61) Jessiah Hines | 5'11” PG | North Cross

Hines is Mack's backcourt mate at North Cross and those two have been fantastic helping the program to two straight Final Four appearances, and he is one of the most fun guards to watch with the way he scores the basketball. He has great burst and is shifty off the bounce to break down defenders, he has deep range well past the college line off the bounce and off the catch, he's an athletic finisher around the rim, and he can make plays for others as well.

#90) Langston Cook | 6'0” PG | Parry McLeur

Cook has been one of the top players in the western part of the state since he was a freshman, as he's a two time All State selection and one of the most consistently productive guards you will come across. He can flat out boogie as he has good speed and gets to spots with the ability to score the ball from all three levels, he's a very good rebounder who can start the break and is dynamite in transition, he makes his teammates better with his vision, and he has takeover ability which he uses regularly when his team needs him to.

#93) Christian Myers | 5'11” PG | St. Michael

Myers had a breakout season after transferring to St. Michael and reclassifying, as he was a First Team All VISAA D-III selection and one of the top scoring guards in all of VISAA. The Fredericksburg guard can flat out fill it up as he gets where he wants to and makes tough shots from all three levels, he can move off the ball and work to get open and make shots from deep, and he gets downhill aggressively and gets to the line often.

#108) Amare Long | 6'0” PG | Miller School

Long is perhaps the most underrated player we have on this list and could easily be higher, as he's quietly been one of the most important pieces to Miller School's last two state championships. The 6'0” lead guard is strong with the ball and handles pressure well making the easy and right play consistently, he picks his spots and scores it efficiently from all over, he is a lock down on ball defender, and he's willing to take on whatever role is needed to help his team win.
