Expert Analysis
Devontae Cobb | Prep Hoops Scout
Skyler Elliot stood out as a small guard with a big game, heart, and an endless motor. He constantly chased down rebounds out of his area, shot gaps in the press for steals, and attacked the basket completely unfazed by the size and length of opposing defenders. When challenged at the rim, Elliot routinely countered in midair with wide finishes, up-and-under adjustments, and creative angles to get his shot off. His touch around the basket was remarkable, either releasing the ball at such a high point that defenders couldn’t reach it or kissing it off the glass with precision. Elliot kept the team operating like a well-oiled machine, maintaining full control of the offense with everything flowing through him first. Elliot displayed an advanced understanding of tempo, pace of play, and speed while creating opportunities off the live dribble. In transition, his speed was incredibly difficult to contain, consistently drawing defenders toward him before making the right kick-out or advance pass to create easy scoring chances.
