About Ryder

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I’m an all-around player who impacts the game on both ends of the floor. I can score at all three levels—finishing at the rim, hitting mid-range shots, and knocking down threes. On defense, I’m a lockdown defender who takes pride in guarding the best player. I bring hustle and energy every play, doing whatever it takes to help my team win.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I have a strong, competitive mentality every time I step on the court. I stay locked in, play with confidence, and never back down from a challenge. I take pride in outworking everyone, staying disciplined, and doing the little things that lead to winning. No matter the situation, I stay focused and keep pushing to get better.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Outside of sports, I am a high-achieving student at Vincennes Lincoln High School (Class of 2027) with a 4.0 GPA and a strong focus in math. I’ve been involved in Interact Club and served as class Vice President for three years, completing 40+ service hours. I also worked as a lifeguard (CPR certification). I’m a quick learner, hardworking, and driven to earn a degree and build a successful future

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have developed strong leadership skills through serving as class Vice President and being active in Interact Club, where I’ve helped organize and participate in service activities. I’ve built teamwork and communication skills by working with others in clubs and community service. My experience as a lifeguard strengthened my responsibility, decision-making, and ability to stay calm under pressure

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Yes, I have faced significant challenges through injuries, including breaking my back and breaking my fingers. These experiences tested my physical and mental strength, requiring patience, discipline, and a strong commitment to recovery. Overcoming these setbacks taught me resilience, perseverance, and how to stay positive and focused even in difficult situations.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college that offers a strong balance between academics and athletics, where I can pursue a quality degree while competing in a competitive basketball program. I want a school with a supportive environment, good coaching, and opportunities to grow both on and off the court, helping me reach my goals of playing at the next level and preparing for my future career.

Ryder wasn’t backing down from a challenge going up against a loaded Breakaway 3SSB team. At 6’2 he has the size and skillset to play either guard spot, and spent a lot of time running the point in the game I watched. Breakaway features length all over the floor, but Ryder was still able to create some separation for his own shots, while comfortably handling the ball under pressure. He kept his eyes scanning the floor, and was able to get his team into their half-court sets.
