About Josiah

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I play an aggressive, defensive-minded style of basketball. I am always looking for open teammates and making the extra pass. I am a versatile player who fills whatever role the team needs to win. I run the floor and focus on ball movement over individual scoring.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I’m a disciplined and unselfish competitor. My goal is to be the hardest worker on the floor at all times. I stay focused on the small details—boxing out, communicating on defense, and keeping the energy high. I’m a team-first player who is always looking for ways to help the group succeed.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I play school and AAU ball. I get golden tickets from school, which are for respect, integrity, and excellence.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Beyond the court, I’ve built leadership and empathy through serving others. Being a foster brother for seven years taught me to adapt, share, and lead with kindness. I also volunteer at church and feed the homeless on Thursdays. These experiences taught me that true leadership is about serving your community and looking out for those around you, no matter the score.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

My biggest challenge is balancing sports with the needs of my community. As a foster brother for over half my life and a volunteer feeding the homeless, I’m reminded of the bigger picture. These experiences taught me resilience and gratitude. When a game gets tough, I don’t fold. My family and service work taught me to stay calm, disciplined, and to always show up for those counting on me.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a college that has a strong academic and athletics program. I also want it to be safe to live at and have plenty of role models to look up to.
