SAN DIEGO — Mission Bay High head coach Marshawn Cherry organized and hosted his 8th annual Battle at the Bay event which showcased many of San Diego's top teams and prospects. The seven-game event had multiple matchups of Top 10 teams in the region and we were in attendance for every game. Below we break down 11 guards who caught our eye.

[player_tooltip player_id='2550848' first='Anthony' last='Lee'] | 2028 | Christian

Lee stood out to us with his natural feel for the game at the point guard spot despite only being a sophomore. The wiry 6-foot-1 guard is a smooth and elusive ball-handler who sees and processes the floor in transition and half-court offense. Lee is a willing passer who plays with his eyes up the floor and consistently sets teammates up for open looks.

Che Lesperance | 2026 | Mira Mesa

Lesperance's combination of shiftiness off the bounce, ability to knock down tough, contested jumpers and craftily get to the rim and finish made him an effective scorer in Mira Mesa's two-point loss to Christian. Lesperance flashed some impressive break down ability in isolation and used that to get into his versatile offensive skill-set and the senior finished with 15 points.

DK Montgomery | 2026 | Montgomery

Montgomery is one of San Diego's top scorers at 20.6 points per game on the season and it was easy to see why with how well he shoots the three-ball. The 6-foot-1 senior has a quick trigger, a green light to pull early and often and stays shot-ready off the catch and off the bounce. Montgomery scored 20 points, including four triples, in the Aztecs' 57-56 loss to Steele Canyon.

[player_tooltip player_id='2166538' first='Jackson' last='Carpenter'] | 2027 | Del Norte

The 6-foot-2 junior put on a jump shooting clinic in the Nighthawks' 52-48 loss to Mater Dei Catholic as he poured in a game-high 25 points on a barrage of three-point and off-dribble mid-range jumpers. Carpenter was the primary focus of the opposing defense but his ability to create space from defenders and elevate and shoot over the top allowed him to be effective.

[player_tooltip player_id='1956545' first='Jalen' last='Williams'] | 2026 | San Marcos

San Marcos fell to Victory Christian, 57-49, but Williams kept the game within striking distance throughout with his ability to score on the perimeter. The 6-foot-3 shooting guard has been a varsity contributor since his freshman season with the Knights and is averaging 18 points per game during his senior year. Williams had 16 points in the loss and made a handful of impressive three-point and mid-range shots with defenders draped on him.

Jeremiah McCaleb | 2026 | Mira Mesa

McCaleb impacted the game with his aggressive slashing mentality in transition and his ability to knock down open three-point shots off the catch. The 6-foot-2 shooting guard sets up his straight-line driving ability with his smooth jumper and is a savvy finisher at the rim with a quick pop of athleticism around the rim.

Jocori Bartlett | 2026 | Mission Bay

Bartlett put on one of the most impressive performances of the day in the final game of the night as Mission Bay defeated Torrey Pines, 68-53, behind Bartlett's 24 points and five assists. The 5-foot-11 senior point guard was nearly impossible for the Falcons to keep out of the lane as his combination of strength and physicality allowed him to overpower and score through any defender in his way. Bartlett also knocked down a handful of mid-range pull-up jumpers.

Jonathan Hawthorne | 2026 | Mater Dei Catholic

Hawthorne is one of those "wired to score" type of prospects who can really fill up the scoring column with a polished mid-range game. The 6-foot combo guard has great feel for hunting his spots, uses a quick first step to get to that spot and elevates quickly into a balanced jump shot. The senior scored a smooth and efficient 14 points as the Crusaders defeated Del Norte, 52-48.

Ronnie Scott | 2026 | Christian

Scott's football background was evident from the jump as his combination of physicality, toughness and well-balanced athleticism led to him getting to the rim and finishing through contact at-will. Scott's downhill attacking in transition forced the Mira Mesa defense on its heels and his ability to cover ground with speed and strides helped him beat defenders to the rim and score on high percentage finishes. Scott had 15 points in Christian's win.

Sei'Mir Roberson | 2026 | Cathedral Catholic

Roberson is a savvy ball-handler who uses that handle, pace and body control to create for himself and teammates at the combo guard spot. The 6-foot-1 senior can really get into the lane and, when in attack mode, stays patient and poised when reading the floor and making scoring or passing decisions. Roberson scored 15 points in the Dons' 54-51 win over Carlsbad.

[player_tooltip player_id='2763293' first='Troy' last='Tominna'] | 2028 | Victory Christian

Tominna has a super efficient approach to the game with a mix of catch-and-shoot threes and off-dribble jumpers that he takes confidently within the flow of the offense. The 6-foot-1 sophomore shooting guard scored 12 points and knocked down a clutch three-pointer in the fourth quarter that stopped some comeback momentum from San Marcos. Tominna is a 2028 prospect to keep a close eye on in San Diego.
