Spring Live Period: 2020 Names To Remember
Here are a few 2020 prospects that I saw during the April Live Period who you will want to keep an eye on.
Case Roach (Upward Stars Upstate)- There was a lot to like about Roach when I saw him at the Phenom Challenge. He has good size for a young wing at 6’4” and has a solid skill-set to go with it. Roach has a dependable outside shot but is also effective attacking the basket because of his size and toughness. He displayed some impressive athleticism throughout the weekend and played with a lot of energy. I’m excited to see how he grows before July.
Logan Jones (Charlotte Nets)- Jones was a man amongst boys in his game I watched in Spartanburg. The fearless lefty was a terror inside, slashing to the rim at will and getting clean looks. Even when he missed, he would get his own rebound and put it back in. Jones is a tough, intense competitor who gave maximum effort the entire game with limited rest. He plays bigger than his listed height and just makes plays on both ends that help you win games.
Ben Bryson (Tennessee Bobcats)- Bryson is playing up on a talented 17U Tennessee Bobcats team that includes Division 1 prospects such as Grant Ledford and Brock Jancek. He may not get a bunch of opportunities, but Bryson makes sure to have an impact when he is in there. He flies around the court making hustle plays and racking up steals, is a smart decision-maker with the ball, and has showed flashes of his scoring ability. Bryson is gaining valuable experience playing with this team and will be ready to take the reins next year.
Jack Kostel (Atlanta Timberwolves)- Like Bryson, Kostel is also challenging himself by playing up. He is with an Atlanta Timberwolves team that has a lot of solid prospects but he is still a steady contributor for their group. Kostel has shown a versatile game this spring; one game he’ll get hot from 3-point land, the next game he may grab double-digit rebounds, and then he’ll make some dazzling passes next time you see him. He has already garnered some D2 interest along with a few D1 schools coming to watch him recently. Kostel will be a popular prospect as he continues to grow.
