About Hayleigh

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I move around a lot, in aau I was mainly a 4/5 in school ball. So in both I’d push the ball down a lot and get easy fast break layups, I am posted up focused center and scoring in the low post. I get up a lot of easy shots mid range-threes. I use my teammates to get open shots and pick and rolls.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

My mentality is a combination of intense competitiveness with emotional control of my confidence. I remain focused and confident no matter how a game goes or what goes on before it. I take accountability without any excuses behind it. I’m passionate and driven about this sport, I wake up early to train with no excuses and I push through every challenge that comes my way.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I play aau (Lady nova village) looking to switch teams this year.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Through basketball I’ve developed strong leadership, teamwork, and discipline. Being apart of the same team for years and playing with the same girls has taught me how to communicate with the people around me effectively, hold myself accountable, and support others. Whether I’m leading on the court, or filling a spot that helps the team succeed, I’ve learned to stay focused under pressure.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

During last aau season, my parents got a divorce and I couldn’t see my mom for about a year, it started around April which was the start of aau season. I kept my composure during it all even though it hurted to see other peoples parents there and not my mom. My dad was still in my life just not involved like my mom was, he never came to my games so I never really had support other than my mom.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a college that can help me pursuit my basketball dreams and help me to become a lawyer or nurse in the future.
