October 11, 2015

Lane Hartley is a prospect with potential to climb in the rankings for sure. He is a guard with a lot of skill to his game. He has played grassroots ball with Louisiana Select Team Millsap in the past. But in high school ball he is the go to guy.

This will be a make or break year for Lane in terms of getting noticed by college coaches in order to move on and play at the next level. We asked Lane a few questions to see where he is on the court.

What do you consider your strong points in your game?

“I consider one of the strong points in my game is my basketball iq and how I think things through. Taking care of the ball and not getting under pressure. My scoring ability and getting my teammates open for good shots opportunities.”

What colleges have reached out and expressed interest in you?

“Northwestern State University and Centenary College.”

During the game what do you try to focus on doing offensively? Defensively?

“Offensively I focus on getting my teammates open and letting them get good shot opportunities. I focus on getting myself good shots. I focus on making smart decisions and valuing the ball every possession. Defensively I focus on guarding the other team's best player and communicating with my teammates and leading by example.”

How do you believe your role will change this high school season for your team?

“I believe my role will change this high school season for my team because I will lead by example. I will never take a play off and keep my guys motivated to push themselves to keep playing hard. My team looks up to me and has a lot of confidence in me. They trust me with the ball in my hands and rely on me to make leader like decisions.”

How tall are you and what skills at that height do you think impressed college coaches this summer?

“I am 6'2. My ability to handle the ball like I do and attacking a defender off the dribble. My ability to shoot the ball like I do and to value the ball and always having confidence in myself with the ball in my hands.”

What is your GPA and have you taken the ACT yet and if so what is your highest score so far?

“My GPA is a 3.4 and I will be taking the ACT this October.”
