17U Stock Risers from BTR Main Event
BTR Main Event took place this weekend in Oklahoma City. The field was not big but was talented. The Spencer Cougars took home the championship trophy in the 17U bracket. Prep Hoops was able to scout some of the teams that battled it out on the court.
Damion Thorton Team Cougars 2018 Wing
Thorton was excellent for Team Cougars on the Wing using his crafty game to thrive at getting to the rim. Thorton is one of the better under the radar JUCO or NAIA Division II players left on the board. He was instrumental in the Cougars winning the event.
Kenyarey Springs Team Cougars 2018 Wing
Springs is committed to Redlands JUCO but got some run in this weekend. He scored the ball well in transition getting to the rim. Where he was best was on the offensive end.
Ashton Bartholomew Oklahoma Hustle 2019 Wing
Bartholomew could jump out of the gym at 6’5. He is super bouncy and athletic, which led to strong finishes around the basket. He will be a prospect to watch for small colleges.
Add the unsigned seniors Kenray and Damion
Ryan Lofton Gym Time Hoops 2019 Post
Lofton rebounded the ball very well on the low block. He has a good size and fame to his build. Lofton found his way scoring inside with efficient shots. Lofton is going to be a good small college big.
Seth Pomeroy OK Run PWP 2019 Point Guard
Pomeroy gave OK Run PWP great minutes off the bench providing them with hustle plays. Despite his small stature Pomeroy was very effective because of his constant effort, heart, and toughness he shows. Pomeroy has a good handle with a nice jumper from the outside. NCAA Division II programs will want to get to know Pomeroy quickly this spring.
Keylan Boone OK Run PWP 2019 Wing
Boone has elevated to become the top prospect in the 2019 Oklahoma Class. The jump Boone has made over the last year is phenomenal. This length, athleticism, and aggressiveness of Boone are off the charts. Boone isn’t just a player that can score the rock at all three levels. He also defends at a high level. Over the past year, Keylan has gone from a timid player to a confident player. He is a High Major NCAA Division I recruit. As of now he only holds one NCAA Division I High Major offer from Oklahoma State but expect that to change this spring.
Seth Hurd OK Run PWP 2019 Forward
Hurd cleaned up the boards for OK Run PWP on both ends. Opponents struggled to boxout Hurd due to his size, quickness, athleticism, and willpower. I believe Hurd goes up for every rebound expecting to outwork his opponent and end up with the basketball. Hurd has really improved his offensive game turning into a reliable force from 0-12 feet. Hurd projects to the Mid Major NCAA Division I level. He currently has offers from Denver and Oral Roberts.
Ben Smith OK Run PWP 2019 Forward
Smith had a coming out party with OK Run PWP at the BTR Main Event. Often times Smith has been a passive player Saturday evening he was quite the contrary. Smith was aggressive attacking openings in the defense getting to the rim and finishing strong. If Smith can bring the level energy he brought at the BTR Main Event to the UAA Circuit he will finish the summer with a bunch of Mid Major NCAA Division I offers.
