PICTURED: [player_tooltip player_id='3189944' first='Jake' last='West']

Williamson County is home to some high-quality basketball these last ten years and it seemingly gets a bit better each year, or two. Unlike other metro areas many of the Williamson County players stay home and stay with their programs for several years, which aids development and cohesiveness.

Who are members of the Next Wave in Williamson County?

[player_tooltip player_id='2866495' first='Sochikaima' last='Oputa'] - Page

Incredible athlete. An upside guy. Head Coach Jared Street played him in the final minute of a heart attack inducing contest with Tullahoma late, late Tuesday night. Sochi was tasked with guarding [player_tooltip player_id='2352126' first='Austin' last='Tinnon'], one of the best senior bigs in Tennessee. Clearly, Coach Street trusts the sophomore immensely.

Standing an elegant 6-foot-6 Sochi can run the fastbreak himself and frankly could develop into a point guard with the right instruction. He is built like a young Da'Aron Fox, so the impetus to bulk up in the next three years is there. Sochi's ceiling is so exciting and few move aroudn the floor with his grace.

[player_tooltip player_id='2866500' first='Somtochukwu' last='Oputa'] - Page

Like brother Sochi, Somto is nimble for his height. His motor does not rev as high as Sochi and he lacks a bit of the touch around the rim. Somtochukwu does rebound at a high level and presents problems for driving guards. His presence alone is a deterrent.

[player_tooltip player_id='2417844' first='Collin' last='Robinson'] - Franklin

Ok, so I cheated picking [player_tooltip player_id='2417844' first='Collin' last='Robinson'] for this list. He is a Class of 2027. He does fit the theme of Next Wave because Christian Brown's graduation literally demanded Franklin find a new source of dominance. True Robinson is a completely different player stylistically and in terms of size and yet the dude dropped 26 points on Hillsboro's head Monday night, knocking down 80% (4-5) of his three-pointer attempts. From the field the star left-handed guard is shooting a sizzling 53.0%!

[player_tooltip player_id='3189944' first='Jake' last='West'] - Brentwood

Tremendous footwork. Jake is young enough that he could still grow a little taller. Because [player_tooltip player_id='2376260' first='Davis' last='Cochran'] effectively plays the "3", "4", or "5" the two can play together. When Jake and Davis take the floor at the same time Davis kind of clears the lane and attacks facing the basket while West pounds and dances around the lane. [player_tooltip player_id='3189944' first='Jake' last='West'] is lighter on his feet than his peers of similar size. He likely grew up playing multiple sports which helped his physical versatility and helped make him so nimble.

[player_tooltip player_id='3141728' first='Kendrick' last='Cherry'] - Summit

Nice size for his eventual position of 2/3. [player_tooltip player_id='3141728' first='Kendrick' last='Cherry'] ran with the reputable [program_tooltip program_id='2078775' first='Tennessee' last='Tigers'] over the summer. Though young Kendrick is probably a top 2 athlete on Summit this season...and Summit won seven of their first eight games. Versatile attacker. Cherry will play any of three different positions this season (SG, SF, PF) and eventually mature into a pure wing.

[player_tooltip player_id='2504204' first='Luke' last='Carroll'] - Nolensville

Elite shooter. His father, the head coach at Lipscomb University, says Luke loves lacrosse more than hoops. He is very good at basketball and will be a scoring threat for the foreseeable future. Nolensville is a deep team with several guard threats. This enables Carroll to play away from the ball and provide deadly shooting on call.

WORTH THE WAIT:
Josiah Porter - Page '29
