IPS In-Season Tournament- All Tourney 2nd Team

The players on this list showed how vital they are to their team's success. Whether it's scoring, rebounding or defending, these young men do it at a high level.    Kameron showed the ability to score a variety of ways in the painted area. Most of the points he scored were on hustle plays such as put-backs and driving layups. He occasionally knocked down mid-range jump-shots in one-on-one situations. Kameron was great at running the floor and finishing in fast break situations. Kameron's biggest strength was his sheer hustle to be a part of every play on the basketball court. He's a great interior post defender who had no issues boxing out and grabbing defensive rebounds. Kameron is an athletic player who does not go for pump fakes against opposing players in the post. Kameron is very knowledgeable in regards to defending the painted area. He blocked numerous shots and showed the ability to defend opposing post players without generating many fouls.     I appreciated the defensive prowess of this young man in Thursday evening's game. Derion is the type of player who does all the dirty work for Arlington. Whether it's rebounding, scoring or defending, Derion always found himself around the basketball. He used a quick first-step to easily get by defenders. This led to scores or assists for himself or teammates. Derion did not mind battling opposing players for rebounds in the paint. He showed a knack for taking charges and diving on the floor for loose balls. If there was an all hustle team, Derion would be the catalyst! Defensively is where he shined the most. He's an excellent on-ball defender who forced multiple turnovers. Derion showed his toughness by defending all positions. He blocked shots, generated four steals and displayed the defensive awareness to make plays. Derion will become a serious threat as a two-way player as he continues to develop more offensively.      Nikkail is a shifty ball handler who used a variety of moves to get around defenders. He is a great team player who did all the necessary things needed to help Broad Ripple win. Whether it's attacking the basket, fighting for rebounds, knocking down timely jump-shots or defending, Nikkail was there to do it. He's an efficient passer who made critical assists in the final moments of the game. Nikkail hit a teammate with a pin-point pass as he cut down the lane for an easy score. Most of his baskets were scored when Broad Ripple ran the court in transition. Nikkail finished strong at the rim on numerous occasions. In regards to defending, he was great at timing the passing lanes and generating steals.     This young man was the “hustle guy” for Broad Ripple. Michael did a little of everything on the court. He's a great rebounder from the guard position. Michael attacked the boards with authority! Especially on the offensive side of the court. Whenever his teammates missed a shot, Michael was there to grab the rebound and score the basket. Whenever Broad Ripple had an opportunity to run fast-breaks, Michael sprinted down the floor and finished strong at the rim. He's a good ball handler who knows how to create his own shot by beating defenders off the dribble. His drives to the basket often led to scores for himself or assists to other teammates. Defensively, Michael put his body on the line by chasing down loose balls or taking charges. He's a great team defender who helped Broad Ripple force numerous turnovers of the opposition.     Josh is an aggressive combo guard who is skilled enough to play as the team's scorer or facilitator. He's an excellent ball handler who showed a knack for making plays. Josh excelled at winning his one-on-one match-ups. These circumstances led to Josh scoring in the paint or dishing out assists to other teammates. He showed the ability to knock down short perimeter shots. In some instances, Josh made a couple of threes by using hesitation dribble moves to free himself. This allowed him to have good looks at the basket and knock down shots. He's a good passer who often found his teammates cutting to the basket for easy scores. Josh is a talented guard who has a chance to be great in the near future. Keep it up Josh!!
