<p><strong>1. <a href="https://prephoops.com/team/new-auburnscho/">New Auburn</a></strong> -- Sharing the Lakeland East title with Birchwood a year ago was nice. Winning outright in 2025-26 would be even better. That will be the goal of the Trojans this winter as coach Michael Morgan welcomes back three returning starters from a 19-7 squad in seniors [player_tooltip player_id='3021360' first='Sawyer' last='Jones'] (5-10) and [player_tooltip player_id='2827465' first='Colten' last='Lotts'] (6-3) along with junior [player_tooltip player_id='3021354' first='Brett' last='Elmhorst'] (5-11). Lotts is a returning first-team all-league performer while Jones received second-team honors and Elmhorst was accorded honorable mention status. Four starters are back from a squad that won 18 games, giving coach Jeff Podgornik's program one of its most experienced squads of the last decade. Four starters return for Lake Holcombe, including top scorer [player_tooltip player_id='3020643' first='Emmit' last='Johnson'] (6-2, 20.6 ppg, 8.1 rpg) and top rebounder [player_tooltip player_id='3020646' first='Connor' last='Kane'] (6-3, 8.8 ppg, 8.8 rpg). Size, length, rebounding and balanced scoring are assets for Lake Holcombe. <br><br><strong>4. <a href="https://prephoops.com/team/birchwood-school-district/">Birchwood</a></strong> -- Replacing the 38.0 ppg and 22.0 rpg provided by the graduated Lucas Gindt (6-2, 21 ppg, 10 rpg), Matthew Lehnert (6-3, 11 ppg, 10 rpg) and Taven Jones (5-11, 6 ppg, 2 rpg) will be big hurdle to overcome for coach Alex Gilles, but he has some talented juniors and one very talented senior back to carry the load in 2025-26. Replacing the scoring of the graduated Jared Schultz (6-0, 28.3 ppg, 8.0 rpg) will be a challenge for Terry and the Evergreens.<br><br><strong>8. <a href="https://prephoops.com/team/winter/">Winter</a></strong> -- The cupboard isn't entirely empty for second-year coach Shawna White, but it's close as five starters graduated from last year's club that went 2-23. Last year's sixth man, Hautamaki will need to provide leadership for the young team at Winter.
