About Mccoy

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

6'3 combo guard that can currently play positions 1-4 specializing in outside shooting and scoring off the dribble by getting to my spots. I read the floor well and find my open teammates. I attack the glass, play physical defense, and I run the floor hard in transition.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I'm coachable, relentless, dedicated, and team first. I encourage my teammates, and I feel as though I'm an extra coach on the floor. I'm the first to arrive and I'm the last to leave the gym. I wake up early to get shots up. I lead by example and believe my character sets me apart from my competition.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I take school seriously. I am responsible and organized in the classroom. I push myself to grow mentally and physically. I'm consistently on the honor roll. I won the 2024 Art Lemmon Award winner "in recognition of the student-athlete who demonstrates unity, hard work, competitiveness, integrity, sportsmanship, and school spirit in the pursuit of athletic and academic excellence."

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I've been in the fortunate position to play for a great program (Legacy Ice) that takes the time to develop talent from a young age. Coaching and playing basketball runs in my family, and I have great examples to follow. This has given me an opportunity to learn all sides of the game from management, to coaching, and to general leadership. I volunteer a lot of my time to youth programs as well.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I face every day as a new challenge. There are consistent setbacks that everyone must overcome, and I take those challenges head on and grow through them.

What type of college are you looking for?

I want to be a part of a program and culture that values hard work, family, and development. I'm looking for a place to belong, improve, and build together. I know that I have much room to grow, and I'm excited for the opportunity. I hope to bring leadership, toughness, and heart to a team that shares similar values.
